Mangalore, Udupi to celebrate Eid-ul-azha on Monday

Mangalore, October 31: Eid-ul-azha or Bakrid will be celebrated in Mangalore and Udupi disctricts on Monday, according to the religious heads of the twin districts.

Since the Dul Hajj moon was sighted on Saturday, the Eid-ul-azha will be celebrated on the November 7, stated Qateeb of Zeenath Baksh Jumma Masjid Alhaj Abdul Wahid Faizi, Ullal Qazi Alhaj Abdurrahman Kunhikoya Thangal Al-buqari, Udupi District Samyukta Jamat Qazi Alhaj P.M. Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal, Bhatkala Markazi Jamatul Muslimeen Qazi Maulana Mohammed Iqbal Mulla Nadvi, Qazi of Jamatul Muslimeen Maulana Qwaja Mohiuddin Akrami Nadvi, Maulana Qari Inamul Haq, Bangalore in a statement.

Bengaluru, Jan 5: BJP leader and Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa once again blamed the Congress of creating 'confusion' among the Muslim community over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act-2019 while launching a door to door campaign to dispel such rumors.

Yediyurappa was on a door-to-door campaign to make people aware of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and to allay their fears.

"Unnecessarily, the members of Congress are creating confusion among the Muslim community. I assure you that not a single Muslim will be affected because of CAA," said B. S. Yediyurappa.

"Almost all previous Prime Ministers have supported it, now Congress is creating a problem so as to create confusion among Muslims. That's why we are out on the door-to-door campaign," he said.

The Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, seeks to grant Indian citizenship to Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.

Mangaluru, Jul 20: Former Union Minister B Janardhana Poojary has urged the people not to be afraid of coronavirus and lead a healthy lifestyle as he was discharged from hospital after completely recovering from covid-19.

The 83-year-old Billawa stalwart was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city for over two weeks as he was tested positive for the coronavirus. Today he was discharged from the hospital. 

“There is no need to be worried about the covid-19. People should consume nutritious and immunity boosting food and lead a healthy lifestyle,” he said.

He also urged the people to follow all necessary guidelines such as maintaining physical distance, wearing masks and washing hands frequently to prevent the spread of the virus.

Udupi, Jan 26: The late seer of Pejawar Mutt Vishwesha Tirtha Swami has been posthumously honoured with Padma Vibhushan for his contribution to spiritualism.

The seer, who passed away in December last, was known as a Hindu reformist spiritual leader.

He was also among the religious heads to be in the forefront of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and was a vocal proponent for the construction of a Ram temple at Ayodhya.
