Udupi, November 1: A driver was burnt alive when the goods autorickshaw driven by him got sandwiched between a truck and a tempo in an accident at Pangala on National Highway 66 in Udupi district on Monday.
According to police, the truck was going from Mangalore to Udupi while the autorickshaw and the tempo were heading to Pangala. In the three-way collision, the truck rammed the autorickshaw while the tempo hit it from behind, triggering an explosion.
The driver of the autorickshaw was burnt to death on the spot. His identity was not known. The autorickshaw had been gutted while the truck and the tempo were also partially burnt. A team of Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the spot to douse the flames, the sources said.
