Sullia, November 5: One person was killed and nine others sustained injuries when a pipe laden borewell lorry fell into a ditch at Anegundi on Sullia-Puttur stretch on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Devaraj, a native of Chattisgarh.
The lorry belongs to one Rajendra Kumar Menala. The lorry was bound to Puttur from Sullia when the incident occurred.
The lorry driver is said to lost control over the vehicle. The injured are Haneef, Dhanush Singh, Santosh, Suresh, Kumar Permal, Ramaswamy and Harish.
As deceased was struck inside the lorry, the police had a tough time in removing him. A crane which was pressed into service took more than three hours to remove the body.
Majority of the injured belong to Salem in Tamil Nadu.
