Mangalore, November 12: Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader B. Janardhan Poojary has demanded revoking of the bail granted to former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in the corruption cases, as he is "likely to destory evidences related to the charges slapped against him"

Addressing presspersons in Mangalore, Mr. Poojary on Friday said there was a conspiracy behind the transfer of Additional Director General of Police Jeevan Kumar V. Gaonkar from the post he held as the top officer in the Lokayukta.

This is enough proff that he would destroy evidence and hence advocate Sirajin Pasha should approach Supreme Court demanding withdrawal of bail to Mr. Yeddyurappa.

A case should be filed against the Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda and BJP president K.S. Eshwrappa for meeting Yeddyurappa when he was in the judicial custody.

"The chief minister should reveal the reason behind the transfer of Lokayukta officials. If not, it is clear that the transfer had political motive," the veteran leader observed.

Mr. Gowda is being used to cover the mistakes of Mr. Yeddyurappa, he alleged.

Criticising BJP and the civil society members involved in anti-corruption agitatilon, Mr. Poojary said he wanted to know the reaction of L.K. Advani to the present situation in Karnataka since he had passed through the state recently as part of his yatra against corruption.

"Why Anna Hazare and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar are tightlipped about the corruption prevailing in Karnataka," he asked.

Accusing Ravi Shankar of being a Sangh Parivar supporter, Mr. Poojary said, the spiritual guru did not have any moral right to talk about corruption in Uttar Pradesh, when he was silent about the state of affairs in Karnataka.

New Delhi, Feb 12: Senior Karnataka BJP leader Umesh Katti, who has been left out of the latest cabinet expansion, on Wednesday met party president Jagat Prakash Nadda over the issue.

On Tuesday, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa allotted portfolios to 10 newly inducted ministers. The leader was sulking after he was left out from the cabinet.

According to sources, Katti urged JP Nadda to consider his seniority in the party and give him a ministerial berth.

Earlier, Yeddyurappa had announced that Umesh Katti would be given a place in the state cabinet, but his name was dropped from the list of ministers at the last moment.

According to sources, Umesh Katti also urged Nadda for a Rajya Sabha berth for his brother Ramesh Katti.

Mangaluru, May 13: Karnataka revised its standard operating procedure (SOP) for international passengers to allow pregnant women, children and senior citizens to entre home quarantine if they test negative for covid-19.

The development comes after former minister and Mangaluru MLA U T Khader urged the government to follow the Kerala model in handling the repatriates and take extra care of pregnant women and senior citizens at Mangaluru and Bengaluru Airports.

Passengers will be initially dived into two categories. Category A includes passengers symptomatic on arrival while Category B passengers are those asymptomatic on arrival.

While category A passengers will be directly shifted to covid-19 hospital, category B passengers will be sent to 14-day institutional quarantine.

If there are pregnant women, children below 10 years of age and senior citizens in category B, they will remain in institutional quarantine until they obtain a negative report (after throat swab testing for covid-19). It may take one or two days to get the throat swab testing report.

Bengaluru, May 4: Former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday said that the health of the migrants who have been allowed to move, should not be jeopardized and appropriate tests must be conducted.

"The task was to send the workers to their places. However, their health should not be jeopardized. This decision made for their benefit should not be a travesty for them. There will also be physical interference on the buses and appropriate tests must be done," said Kumaraswamy.

"The lockdown, which was implemented without any prerequisites, is now loosened without warning. The state government, which has allowed migrant workers to move to the city, has mobilized large numbers of people. By this, the government is playing with their health," he added.

He continued saying that the government should not lose out on an unscientific move that resulted in the loss of thousands of crores of rupees from a custodial lockdown.

"Workers and villages must be sober. The government must take all necessary precautions in this regard," he added.
