Dance-cum-art exhibition by 15 year old girl enthrals audience

Mangalore, November 13: The department of Kannada and culture, Dakshina Kannada district organised 'Chiguru', a dance-cum-art exhibition of Neha B at Town Hall in the city on Saturday.

The programme was inaugurated by president of DK Kannada Sahithya Parishath, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura.

Speaking on the occasion he said that our society must be balanced to nurture the talent of the young, with the parents and teachers tapping the true potential of children.


The art exhibition had at least 25 paintings of Neha, which was inaugurated by eminent artist Dayanand Bejai.

Neha, the dancer cum artist has won many accolades for herself at a tender age of 15.

Among them are District Rajyothsava award for the year 2010, Exceptional artist award by Women and child development department for 2011-12,

She has been learning dance since she was 7 years old. She is a student of Vidushi Sumangala Rathnakar who runs a school Natyaradhana. She hails from a family of artists. She has also performed in other parts of India like Kanpur and New Delhi.

Neha has won many awards in Dance as well. Amongst them are 'K avya Shravya Natya Kuncha' award , Mallige Naguthava 2007 award.

Bengaluru, Apr 5: An elderly couple from Bengaluru

with a travel history to Dubai joined the list of coronavirus patients in the state, taking the total number of cases to 146, the health department said on Sunday.

The list includes four deaths and 11 discharges.

The 68-year old man and his 62-year old wife, hailing from Madiwala in the city, had returned from Dubai on March 22.

They were quarantined at a private hospital and have been asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, the government appealed to people who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat Congregation in New Delhi to contact 080-29711171 Arogya Sahayavani, the medical helpline number.

Mangaluru, May 18: A boat which was engaged in an operation to fix the pipe relating to the reverse osmosis plant of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) at Tannibavi turned turtle due to strong wind.

Two workers had gone missing in the incident that occurred on Sunday late evening, and one of them was rescued shortly thereafter.

The person who has not yet been found happens to be Pandu Pist from Mumbai. The person who was rescued was Santosh from Dakshina Kannada.

Three workers from West Bengal who were facing danger were also rescued.

Bengaluru, Apr 15: Bengaluru Commissioner of Police, Bhaskar Rao, said that prohibitory order under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), 1973, will remain in place for all parts of the City Commissionerate till April 20.

Section 144 of CrPC prohibits the assembly of four or more people in an area.

"Prohibitory order under section 144 of CrPC will remain in force, in all parts of the Bengaluru City Commissionerate for a period up to 12 am of April 20 with effect from 12 am of April 14," according to Rao.

Karnataka, so far, has 258 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 9 deaths being reported due to the infection, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.
