State level netball tournament for high school students from Nov 19

Mangalore, November 15: Department of Public Instruction, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat and Sacred Heart's High School, Kulshekar, will be jointly organising a two-day state level netball tournament for high school students at the Kulshekar high school ground from November 19.

In all, 1,344 students from 25 teams representing various educational districts of the state will vie for top honours in the boys and girls section in the under-14 and under-17 age-group categories.

Students can register their names on November 18. The event will be inaugurated on November 19 at 10am by Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar. Deputy Speaker of the Karnataka State Legislative Assembly N Yogish Bhat will preside over the function.

MCC Mayor Praveen Praveen will be hoisting the flag, Zilla Panchayth President Shailaja Bhatt will be inaugurating the stadium and march-past will be inaugurated by Superior General of Bethany Education Institution C Vilberta BS.

Valedictory function will be held on November 20 at 4:00pm. Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak will be presiding over the function and prizes will be distributed by Mangalore MLA UT Khader.

Mangaluru, Jul 3: Four central crime branch (CCB) police personnel tested positive for coronavirus on Friday in Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka.

So far, eighteen police personnel, including an official of the ACP rank and 12 from Ullal police station, have tested positive for Covid-19 in the district in the last few days, police sources said.

A policeman from Mangaluru Rural station and another from Puttur station have also been infected.

All the personnel who tested positive have been admitted to the designated Covid-19 hospitals.

City police commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikash said adequate protection has been provided to police personnel who were fighting the pandemic and the members of their families.

As of Thursday, the total coronavirus cases in the district stood at 923 and the toll 18 while the state's infection count has crossed the 18,000 mark with 272 deaths.

Udupi, May 30: A total of 45 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients, including 17 children were discharged after recovery from the designated hospital in Udupi.

This comes as a big relief amid the rising number of cases in the district.

A total of 164 cases has been confirmed in the district so far.

Udupi, May 2: All the 18 people who were advised self-quarantine in connection with the Thekkatte petrol bunk incident have been tested negative, however, they were asked to continue the 14-day quarantine, said DHO Sudhirchandra Suda on Saturday.

the petrol bunk at Thekkatte was sealed after a Covid infected person had food and took bath at the petrol bunk, while he was travelling from Mumbai to Mandya.

The employees and the owner of the petrol bunk along with the six employees at Sasthana toll gate were asked to quarantine themselves for 14 days.
