16 couple enter marital life at Al Wafa mass marriage ceremony

Mangalore, November 23: The mass marriage system is a boon for Muslim community of the coastal Karnataka, where dowry menace is rampant, said Mangalore MLA U T Khader.

He was speaking at the mass marriage ceremony organised by Al Wafa Trust, a city based charity at Unity Hall near Thokkottu on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday.

He said that Muslim organisations should widely involve in social service and charity, keeping the poorest of the poor in mind.

As many as 16 couples entered marital life in the programme, which was inaugurated by Udupi Qazi PM Ibrahim Musliar Bekala.

Mr Bekala opined that a mass marriage reduce the burden of marriage on bride's father. He also laid emphasis on the following the model of Prophet Muhammad (phuh) and his companions during marriage.

Mangalore Qazi Al-Haj Thwaka Ahmed Musliar solemnized the Nikah in the presence of the family members and guests.

Chairman of the Trust Mohammed Badruddin presided over the programme.

Former state education minister B A Mohidin, planter and businessman Mohammed Ullal Soofi, Sunni leader Hathim Kanchi, South Canara Muslim Welfare Association-Doha president Abdullah Monu Mohidin were present as chief guest.

General Secretary of the Trust U H Umar delivered introductory address after welcoming the gathering. NRI activist Mohammed Iqbal Manna was also present.

Al Wafa Trust has been organising mass marriages for the benefit of girls belonging to economically poor family.

According to Mr Badruddin, the ceremony is aimed at addressing the issue of dowry, which is an impediment for many women from economically poor background to enter in to wedlock.

“This time the Trust has taken on itself to meet the complete marriage expenses of these 16 couples. Each couple would receive gold, clothes and gifts”, he said.

Mangaluru, Jan 4 The International Kite Festival, will be the main attraction of the Karavali Utsav being held here from January 10-19.

Deputy Commissioner Sindhu Roopesh said on Saturday that a variety of cultural programmes are scheduled on the occasion of Karavali Utsav being organized by the DK District Administration at the Karavali Utsav grounds, Kadri Park and Panambur Beach.

Cultural programmes will be presented by budding local artistes of State, National and International fame. All facilities for the cultural programmes will be set up at the Kadri park and Karavali Utsav grounds.

The programme will begin with a cultural procession from Nehru Maidan on 10 January followed by the Inauguration at the Karavali Utsav grounds.

Hassan, May 8: A newly married couple accidentally fell into the Hemavathi river and drowned while clicking selfies near Henneli village in the district, police said on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Kritika (23) of the same village and Artheesh (27) of Belur taluk in the district.

They got married on March 20. Both were working in Bengaluru and were in the village due to the lockdown.

Bareilly, Jun 22: The All India Tanzeem Ulama-e-Islam, a religious and social organisation headed by five senior clerics, has issued a fatwa to boycott Chinese products in the country.

The clerics said the community members should stand with the army and government in this hour.

Expressing concern over India-China face-off, National general secretary of All India Tanzeem Ulama-e-Islam, Maulana Shahbuddin Rizvi expressed concern over the India-China face-off and said, "A fatwa has been passed for boycotting Chinese products on a query posted by a Bareilly-based resident. The clerics in the fatwa have condemned the conspiracy of China to encroach upon Indian land and the killing of our brave soldiers."

The panel of five clerics include national president of All India Tanzeem Ulama-e-Islam Mufti Ashfaq Hussain Qadri, Mufti Iqbal Ahmad Misbahi, Mufti Tauqir Ahmad Qadri, Mufti Hashim Raza Khan and Qari Saghir Ahmad Rizvi.

who is real life hero here...soldier or film actor..

after our soldier dies not even get full compesation for our army...look what happen after pulwama...only one day they put 1000 rs flower and put crocodile tear and do some bashan..went home and slept...

no political netha son or relative die for this country...To change the system we should change our mind and heart..unite all indian irrespective of religion and cast..we can achive victory in all front
