Mangalore, November 28: The former principle of Canara Degree College Mangalore, Prof Nagaraj Rao Javali (62) died of heart attack at his home town in Theerthahalli on Sunday.

Javali had worked as lecturer in the kannada Department in Canara College from 1973-2002 and served as the Principal from 2002-2007. He had joined the college on the very first year of the college on the very first year of the college's establishment and served there till his retirement.

Nagaraj Rao was actively involved in literary, theatrical and art activities during his term in Mangalore.

He was an active member of 'Dasa Jana', a forum initiated by like-minded people to discuss literary and theatrical work in the city.

Javali was saying in Theerthahalli after his retirement. He is survived by wife and a son.

Mangaluru, Mar 24: With four new coronavirus positive cases reported, surveillance against people coming out of their houses and wandering around in public places has been intensified in the coastal city of Mangaluru today.

With today's addition, the total number of positive cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has increased to five in Mangaluru.

All the four new patients are said to be Keralites. Among them three are undergoing treatment at Wenlock Hospital and another one in KMC Hospital.

There will be total restriction in place for the public to step out of their houses. Those who are found outside on the streets would be arrested, caution the district authorities.

Bengaluru, Aug 3: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president Satish Jarakiholi on Sunday said that as per the party sources, state chief minister BS Yediyurappa has got only six months' time and there are different teams working against Yediyurappa in their party.

The BJP high command has decided to bring down Yediyurappa, Jarakhioli said. He added, "Yediyurappa had asked BJP high command to appoint him Chief Minister for six months and due to corona, his period has been extended. But now their own party sources have revealed that he has got only another six months."

While addressing the issue of different statements by BJP leaders and ministership aspirants after five MLCs were nominated, Jarakiholi said "Yediyurappa followers are not actual followers. BJP high command has already decided to bring down Yediyurappa as per their own party sources."

While speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, he said there are teams formed in the names of deputy CMs and there are many who are working in their party against Yediyurappa.

He also said that it's up to their party what they think about Yediyurappa's tenure, whether they keep him as CM or remove him. Being in Opposition, now Congress is only working on strengthening the party, he said.

Bengaluru, Apr 1: After fake sanitisers and masks, Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have busted another racket and seized fake thermometers worth Rs 8 lakh, it said in a statement on Wednesday.

Based on credible information, police conducted the raid on Prajval Surgical and Scientific store located on the first floor of a commercial building in the first block, Rajajinagar. They arrested store manager Keshavan N, 32, a resident of Kurubarahalli.

The police have seized 70 fake infrared forehead thermometers and 60 batteries used in these thermometers. They were worth around Rs 8 lakh as per the price they charged customers for each thermometer.
