Mangalore, December 30: The idea of a special park for special kids in the city was materialized with the inauguration of 'Chili-Pili' adjacent to Gandhinagar Park at Manna Gudda here on Friday.

In a novel ceremony, special children representing Chethana, Sanidhya and Roman Catherin special schools inaugurated the Chili-Pili Park by taking the stage and sharing their feelings.

Speaking on the occasion, Hundi Prabha Kamat, a member of Gandhi Nagar Park Trust, said such a park was necessary in this city, as there were many instances of discrimination faced by special children in parks.

She also thanked MCC for its cooperation in establishing a special park.

Conceptualised a year ago, the special park inspired by special parks as in Bangalore was designed keeping needs of special children in mind, Park's architect Venkatesh Pai said.

Spread over 35 cent area at the northern end of three-acre Gandhinagar Park, the Chili-Pili Park, ensures hassle-free entry for even children confined to wheelchairs.

There is also a 'sand table' to help the children in wheelchair to play with sand. Safety has been accorded the highest priority, he reveals while explaining how swings had been designed to prevent the fall of children.

A sensory walk with patches of grass, smooth granite has been designed to help the differently-abled children to realize the experience of walking on different surfaces. The Park built at a total cost of Rs 20 lakh will be open between 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm on all days except Mondays.

Zilla Panchayath CEO Dr K N Vijayaprakash, Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak, office bearers of GPT and children from Chethana, Sanidhya and Roman Catherin Special schools were present on the occasion.

Hubballi, June 8: If everything goes as expected, the railway station in Hubballi, the commercial capital of the state and also the headquarters of South Western Railway (SWR), will have the world’s longest railway platform next year.

E Vijaya, chief public relation officer of SWR, said the work is being done as part of doubling between Hubballi and Bengaluru.

“At present, Hubballi has five platforms, and the number will be increased to eight. Inspection carriage line is getting converted to full platform.

Platform No. 1 will be extended from 550m to 1,400m with 10m width. At present, Gorakhpur’s 1,366m platform is the world’s longest facility,” the officer said.

She added that one more entry point is coming up at Gadag Road. “Rs 90 crore is being spent on the works related to full yard, signalling, electrical and building.

The works, started in November 2019, will be completed in the next one year,” said Vijaya.

Bengaluru, May 27: Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Wednesday hit out at Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa-led Karnataka government for allegedly "betraying" the people by not fulfilling its Rs 1,610 crore COVID-19 package promise.

Taking a dig at Yediyurappa over the matter, the Congress leader tweeted, "Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa has betrayed people by not fulfilling his Rs 1,610 crore package promise. He seems to be following his @BJP4India leader @PMOIndia @narendramodi."

"Crisis and vulnerability should not be misused for political gains and BJP for India is insensitive towards the same," the former Karnataka Chief Minister said.

On May 6, Yediyurappa had urged migrant workers to stay back as construction activities have resumed and announced a Rs 1,610 crores COVID-19 financial package for the state.

"A package of Rs 1,610 crores will be released as COVID-19 financial relief. One time compensation of Rs 5,000 will be given to 2,30,000 barbers and 7,75,000 drivers," the Chief Minister said.

Referring to media reports, Siddarmiah cornered the state government for asking the licence to release funds for unorganised sector workers.

"How can we expect washermen and other unorganised sector workers to have licence for their work?" he asked.

It looks like Karnataka Chief Minister is very far from reality, he added.

Srinagar, Jan 14: Davinder Singh, deputy superintendent of police, who was arrested on Saturday along with two Hizb terrorists and a Hizb overground worker in Kulgam, has confessed to his interrogators that he had received Rs 12 lakh from the terrorists to ferry them to Jammu and then Chandigarh for their onward journey to New Delhi, IG (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar told the media here on Monday.

Intelligence sources said the terrorists planned to carry out attacks on Republic Day.

The DSP was suspended on Monday and is likely to be stripped of all his awards, including the President’s Police Medal for anti-militancy operations.

Davinder, who was interrogated by various intelligence agencies, including IB, military intelligence and RAW, besides the police, has disclosed that he had put up the terrorists at his Indira Nagar house in Srinagar, right next to the Army’s 15 Corps HQ, and thereafter accompanied them to Jammu in a Maruti car driven by the Hizb overground worker, intelligence sources claimed.

Meanwhile, sources said the Union home ministry may hand over the case to the NIA to find the real motive of the terrorists, Davinder’s links to terrorism and whether he had helped terrorists in the past as well.

The two Hizb terrorists arrested with Davinder are Naveed Babu alias Babar Azam, a resident of Nazneenpora in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, and his associate Rafi Ahmad Rather. The Hizb overground worker, identified as Irfan Shafi Mir, was driving the vehicle when it was intercepted by the police on Saturday. Irfan Shafi Mir has travelled to Pakistan five times on his passport.

Davinder, interestingly, was on duty ensuring security cover for the envoys of 15 countries who visited Srinagar at the Union government’s invitation last week.

There is 2 side for Terrorism, none have dare to attack or bombing unless there is hand from IB, Police and Intelligence (Also RSS support). Frequent bombings or terror attacks was stopped when Hemant Karkare emerged as true officer.
