Labhu Ram transferred; Abhishek Goyal is New SP of Dakshina Kannada

Mangalore, January 1: In a major reshuffle in police department, Karnataka government on Sunday transferred several IPS officers including Labhu Ram, the Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada.

Mr Ram, a 2004 batch IPS officer, has been posted as the SP of Davanagere district. He had taken charge as the SP of DK in March 2011 following the transfer of A Subrahmanyeshwara Rao.

Abhishek Goyal is expected to replace Mr Ram in Dakshina Kannada.

The development comes in the backdrop of Sangh Parivar's demand to transfer him following the alleged 'police atrocity' on Hindutwa activists, who had pelted stones at police station in Sullia recently.

It can be mentioned here that in the aftermath of attack on police station, two cops had been suspended. The action against the cops was in the wake of the report by the State Additional Director General of Police Bipin Gopalkrishna who had probed the case including the stoning of the station and the reported police atrocities on the Hindutwa activists.

Promotions and transfers

Several other senor police officers have also been transferred and promoted in a single day.

Former IGP (Western Range) Alok Mohan has been promoted and appointed as ADGP, Recruitment, Training.

Alok Kumar has been promoted as IGP and continued as Commander of Anti-Naxal Force, Udupi.

Director General and Inspector General of Police Shankar M Bidari has been given the additional charge of Chairman of KSPHC.

Director General of Police Rupak Kumar Dutta, who was the Chairman and Managing Director of Karnataka Police Housing Corporation (KSPHC), has been posted as the DGP, Criminal Investigation Department, Special Units and Economic Offences.

Additional DGP and Executive Director of KSPHC M N Reddy has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Corporation.

B E Umapathy, ADGP, Research and Restructuring, Dharwad has been promoted as DGP.

Raghavendra H. Auradkar has been promoted as ADGP of Home Department.

N S Megharik has been promoted as ADGP, CID. R P Sharma has been promoted as ADGP and continues to head the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force.

Pranab Mohanty and B Dayananda, have been promoted as IGPs and would continue as Joint Commissioners of Police, Crime, Bangalore.

H S Venkatesh has been transferred and posted as SP of Internal Security Division, Bangalore. Ishwarachandra Vidyasagar has been transferred and posted as SP of Bagalkot district.

Mangaluru, Jul 19: Palakkad Division of Southern Railway that has jurisdiction over Mangaluru Railway region has established a business development unit (BDU) to cater to the transportation of various sectors, including non-bulk goods traffic, namely, white goods, finished products, manufactured products, agricultural produce and raw material.

In a statement issued here on Sunday said that the BDU’s mandate was to facilitate seamless interaction between the Railways on the one hand and industry, trade representatives and rail freight customers on the other at appropriate zonal or divisional levels. The unit was also expected to help expeditious clearance of their proposals for freight movement.

Palakkad Divisional Railway Manager Pratap Singh Shami established the BDU in line with the similar unit at the zonal level with other divisions of SR too setting up similar units. Palakkad BDU would work under the supervision of Additional DRM-II CT Sakkeer Hussain while Senior Divisional Operations Manager PL Ashok Kumar was its convener with Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Jerin G Anand, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer KV Sundaresan and Senior Divisional Finance Manager AP Sivachandrar were its members.

Ramanagara, May 15: Flouting all social distancing norms, people gathered in large numbers for a village temple fair in Karnataka's Ramanagara district.

On Thursday, people in large numbers came out on a road to participate in the fair. Attendees took permission for gathering from Panchayat Development Officer NC Kalmatt.

According to a Tehsildar official, Kalmatt was suspended by Ramanagara Deputy Commissioner for granting permission for the gathering.

People have been advised to wear mask in public space and maintain social distancing to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, 45 more COVID-19 cases have been reported from Karnataka, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 1,032 on Friday, according to the state Health Department.

Udupi, Feb 23: Tanushree Pithrody, a 10-year-old girl from Udyavar and class 6 student of St Cecily’s School, here and a Guinness World Record holder, erased the old record by covering the 100 metres 'Chakrasana race' in one minute 14 seconds to write her name in the Golden Book of World Records.

This was announced by Manish Bishnoi, Head, Golden Book of World Records, who handed over the Certificate to Ms Tanushree, who was accompanied by her father Uday Kumar and mother Sandhya here on Saturday.

The previous record-holder in this category was Samiksha Dogra [11 years and 1 month] from Rampur Bhushar, Himachal Pradesh, who had set a time of 6 minutes and 2 seconds on June14,2018.

Later speaking to scribes here, Ms Tanushree said that she was delighted that she was able to break the record. “When I was practicing, I used to finish it in around 2 minutes. This is my fifth record. I dedicate my success to my parents and my Yoga guru,”she added.

Ms Tanushree has also created a record for the ‘most forward rolls with Dhanurasana Yoga pose in 1 minute’ by performing 62 rolls and she also created the ‘fastest 100 forward rolls with Dhanurasana Yoga pose’ in 1 minute and 40 seconds on February 23, 2019 and entered the Golden Book of World Records.

In 2018, she set the Guinness World Record for ‘most full-body revolutions maintaining a chest stand position’ with 42 full-body revolutions in one minute, and on 21 March, 2019 she broke that record with 44.
