NMAMIT signs MoU with Robosoft Technologies

Mangalore, January 11: As a part of its industry institute interaction programme, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Robosoft Technologies Ltd. Udupi with regard to Android Application Development in a programme held on Monday at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte.

Dr. Deviprasad, Head R&D, Robosoft Technologies, Udupi highlighted the importance of Android Application development. He also said that, this is a joint effort made by Robosoft Technologies and NMAMIT in the direction of teaching and learning new things in the area of advanced technology with the available facility and infrastructure to make our students to face the global challenges.

Dr S Y Kulkarni, Principal of the institute presided over the function and motivated the students to bring out more creative and innovative Android applications. He also addressed the students, the need of introducing Android applications in the engineering curriculum.

By this MoU, faculty from NMAM IT will get training from Robosoft for the subjects related to Android Application development, which is included in the curriculum. In the course introduced by Dept. of CSE and ISE, students will study about developing Java based applications for a mobile device which runs on Android operating system.

This subject is having experiments where students will work on real time projects on mobile platformme.

Dr. Niranjan Chiplunkar, HoD, Dept of CSE welcomed the gathering and presented an overview of the MoU. Ms. Pragathi Hegde proposed the vote of thanks. Mr.Venkatesh, Asst Prof., Dept of CSE compered the programme.

After the programme, Dr.Deviprasad gave an introductory lecture on Android operating system and mobile application developments. More than 50 engineering students and staff were present in the programme.

Bengaluru, Apr 21: Alarmed by reports that 53 media persons have contracted coronavirus in Maharashtra, a Minister on Tuesday urged Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to screen all the journalists in Karnataka.

During the regular Covid-19 related briefing on Monday, a reporter had raised the issue of 53 journalists in the neighbouring state testing positive for the disease, with Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar.

In Maharashtra, out of the 171 scribes examined medically, 53 were found to have the viral infection.

In his letter to the CM, Kumar said a similar test should be carried on the journalists in Karnataka.

"The journalists wanted a similar kind of screening to be carried out on them. Therefore, please direct the health and the information department immediately to conduct the screening of journalists who are in contact with public," Kumar said.

Bengaluru, May 1: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday announced Rs 30 lakhs compensation for corona warriors, in case they lose lives while carrying out their duties.

"Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has announced Rs 30 lakhs compensation for Anganwadi workers & assistants, civil workers, and police personnel who die after getting infected by COVID-19 while carrying out their duties," State Chief Minister's Office said in a statement.

According to Union Health Ministry website, a total of 557 cases of coronavirus have been reported in the state so far including 223 cured and 21 deaths.

Meanwhile, With 1,823 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the last 24 hours and 67 deaths, India's total count of coronavirus cases has gone up to 33,610, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

Udupi, Jan 14: The Udupi district police on Tuesday arrested two suspected terrorists at the Indrali railway station in Udupi.

The two, who had reportedly arrived from Kerala at around 6 ap.m., were standing at the Indrali railway station platform.

Suspicious of their behaviour, the police took them to custody and subjected them to interrogation.

According to reports the duo had involved in the murder of Tamil Nadu police Special Sub-Inspector Wilson.

However, top cop of the district has refused to comment regarding the arrest of the youths.
