Fervour and devotion marks 'Punar Prathisthapan' at Venkataramana Temple

Mangalore, January 17: The “Punar Prathishtaapan” ceremony at the renovated Sri Venkataramana Temple in Car Street here, concluded with thousands of devotees thronging the holy shrine to seek blessings.

The re-installation of the Sri Veera Venkatesha took place at 10.29 am on Monday. Sri Sudhindra Tirtha Swamiji of Sri Kashi Math and his disciple Sri Samyameendra Tirtha Swamiji performed the rituals related to re-installation of the deities.

The idol of Sri Veera Venkatesha was installed on the golden throne which has been donated by an Abu-Dhabi based businessman.

The religious rituals commenced at 3.30 am on Monday. The idols were given a number of abhishekhas including Shathakalabhisheka. After the havanas concluded at the Yajna Mantap, Sri Samyameendra Tirtha carried out Poornahuthi.

The idols of Sri Veera Venkatesha and Srinivas were brought to the temple in a procession amidst beating of drums, blowing of Mangala Vadya and chanting of hymns on a golden palanquin, while Srimula Venkataramana, Sri Veera Vittala and Sri Gopalakrishna were brought on a silver palanquin.

Later, Prasanna Pooja was offered to the idols installed on the throne by the two seers of Kashi math. This was followed by re-installation of parivar deities, Ashtamangala Nirikshane and Maha prarthane.

MLA Yogish Bhat, C. Lakshman Shenoy, Managing trustee of the temple, K. Madhav Kamath, U. Nityananda Nayak, M. Padmanabha Pai, president of the renovation committee, P. Dayananda Pai, advisor in chief, S. Satish Nayak, secretary and other office-bearers were present.

As many as 21 giant TV screens had been installed to allow people to have a glimpse of the celebrations going on inside the temple premises. There was a long queue of devotees to accept prasadam.

CM's visit:

Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda visited the temple and sought the blessings of the seers. He was felicitated by Samyamendra Tirtha of Kashi Math with a shawl and fruits.

Bengaluru, Aug 6: With rains in several parts of Karnataka amid Covid-19 pandemic, state Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar on Thursday asked the people to maintain caution and contact the Health department helpline in case of any symptoms.

"There is heavy rain in several districts of the state's coastal, Malnad and north interior regions. People have to observe utmost caution during these rains amid corona infections. In case of any symptoms like fever, cough and cold immediately call the health department helpline 104," Sudhakar tweeted.

As of August 5 evening, cumulatively 1,51,449 Covid-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 2,804 deaths and 74,679 discharges.

Among the districts where the new cases were reported, Bengaluru urban tops the list accounting for 64,881 cases.

Regarding Bengaluru, Sudhakar said, there are 4,276 beds across 11 Covid care centres in Bengaluru.

"As of today morning, 936 of them i.e., 27.79 percent are vacant. Out of the 3,346 patients, 306 patients are due for discharge today," he said in another tweet.

Aimed at availing beds at Covid-19 hospitals for symptomatic patients and those in need, the government had decided to shift all asymptomatic patients to Covid care centres.

Bengaluru, Jul 6: Karnataka government has revised quarantine norms according to which those entering the State from other states, including from Maharashtra, shall be placed in 14-days home quarantine.

Until now, the state government had issued that those returning from Maharashtra are to be placed under 7-day institutional quarantine followed by 7-day home quarantine.

A fresh state government order with the subject line "Regulation of movement of persons from other States to Karnataka" reads: "Whereas the State Government vide Order dated June 30, issued unlock 2 guidelines which permit reopening of more activities in a calibrated manner, in areas outside the Containment Zones, and to extend lockdown in Containment Zone upto July 31. The guidelines also permit unrestricted interstate movement of persons and goods adhering to the SOPs/ Guidelines issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare and Department of Revenue (Disaster Management)".

Whereas, the Department of Health and Family Welfare issued revised SOP for the moment of persons from other State to Karnataka vide document dated June 8, this year, further, quarantine norms were modified vide Orders of even number dated June 15 and June 26.

"The quarantine norms are regularly reviewed and calibrated with the prevailing Unlock 2 guidelines and infusion of technology and community involvement to enforce the strict home quarantine. In light of the above, the quarantine norms issued vide Order dated June 26, has been further modified and is follows--Persons coming from other State to Karnataka, including Maharashtra shall be placed in 14-days Home Quarantine," the order read.

"The other conditions as specified in the Order dated June 15 and aforementioned SOP enclosed issued on June 8 by the Department of Health and Family Welfare shall continue to be in force until further orders," it added.

Udupi, Jan 25: The accused, who planted a crude bomb at the Mangalore International Airport on January 20, was brought to Udupi on Saturday, to collect information, as part of the spot investigation, police said here.

According to police officials, accused Aditya Rao was brought to Karnataka Bank Kadiyali branch, where Rao had a Safe Locker. The team opened the locker and seized the documents, along with a Box.

They said the seized documents, along with the Box, will be sent to the FSL for investigation.
