Demigod 'blesses' Chief Minister for his 'political success'

Sullia, January 18: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda was 'blessed' by Raktheshwari and Vishnumurthy Daiva at his hometown Devaragunda here on Tuesday, after he took part in annual nemotsava and other religious rituals from 10 am to 3 pm. The priest said that the CM was blessed for the success in his political career. As a part of nemotsava, as many as 20 roosters were sacrificed.

Speaking to media persons after participating in the rituals he said that the third phase of work on Mani-Mysore State Highway from Sampaje to Mani will be completed by May 31.

“We cannot tolerate slow progress in work. The work on road from Sampaje to Sullia will be carried out by RN Nayak company instead of KMC Constructions”, he said.

The work on road from Sullia to Sampaje will be carried out by KMC Constructions. A sum of Rs 3 crore has been given in advance to complete the work.” He said special package of Rs 50 crore has been given to Dakshina Kannada district. Highest amount has been allocated to Sullia constituency.

In fact, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had announced Rs 75 crore for the development of Muroor bridge, Sullia-Subrahmanya road, Sullia-Mandekolu road, Bellippady road, Aranthodu-Thodikana road. All these work have been included in the appendix. Work worth Rs 2,125 crore has been included in the appendix in the entire state. All the work will be taken up after the budget. There is no question of pending the work which have been announced,” he said.

“The political situation in the State has made me take charge of almost all the departments. I review the progress of 38 departments. Making the officials work is an art by itself. I will not threaten the officials to get the work done. The officials should not become scapegoat for the politics of hatredness,” he said.

“The transfers affect the development work. No officials from lower rung will be transferred till April,” he added. Earlier, Sullia Government First Grade College Development Committee members urged the CM to release additional fund for the new building, to which, the CM promised to release Rs 2.5 crore.

Bengaluru, Apr 27: As many as 345 Bengaluru-based journalists tested negative for coronavirus on Monday after undergoing a medical check-up got up for them at a hospital here, a top official said.

They had undergone the tests at the Sir C V Raman General Hospital here on April 25 and the results came out negative on Monday. They were among a total of 1,170 journalists who took the tests at the four-day medical check-up camp at the Hospital here from April 23.

"The medical check-up was done in four slots at the Hospital here from Thursday and concluded on Monday. A total of 1,170 journalists undertook the tests, 480 of them on Monday alone, the joint director of the Department of Information and Public Relation D P Muralidhar said.

The test reports of the 480 journalists may come out on Wednesday, he said. Only one journalist tested positive so far and has been admitted to the designated COVID-19 hospital, he said, adding 36 of his primary and secondary contacts have been quarantined.

Bengaluru, Jan 18: The searches by income-tax officials at the residence of south Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna at Virajpet in Kodagu district were concluded on Friday.

The searches, conducted since Thursday by sleuths from Bengaluru, were concluded on Friday morning, the family said.

Speaking to reporters outside the house, the actress's mother Suman said: "We all cooperated with the officials since Thursday. The officials asked some questions which we answered properly."

Rashmika, who was not at the residence when the I-T officials arrived, joined them on Thursday night, she added.

According to sources, IT officials from Bengaluru who arrived in three cars on Thursday verified documents pertaining to properties, bank accounts and investments.

Rashmika has acted in several Kannada and Telugu movies. Her recent film 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' opposite popular Telugu actor Mahesh Babu is in the theatres now.

Mangalore, Jan 15: In one of the biggest seizure of gold in the new decade, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths here have seized five kg of gold valued at Rs two Crore from the Air Cargo Complex at International Airport here recently.

Acting on a tip-off the officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Bangalore and Mangalore in a co-ordinated effort unraveled a unique modus of smuggling of gold through Air Cargo Complex, at old airport, Bajpe Mangalore two days back, According to release issued here on Tuesday evening.

The smuggled gold was concealed in five metal sprockets which were imported by M/s Swaroop Mineral Pvt Ltd of Udupi in the name of “mining conveyor drive chain”.
