Muller Health Expo-2012 highlights health and hygiene

Mangalore, January 19: Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation Harish Kumar on Thursday inaugurated the Muller Health Expo-2012.

The two-day health exhibition was organized by Fr Muller College of Nursing as a part of its silver jubilee celebration on the premises of Father Muller Hospital.

The exhibition focused on all aspects of health-life style disorders, disaster management, first-aid, environmental health, prevention and management of HIV, cancer, mosquito borne diseases.

Creating awareness about health and hygiene, identification and prevention of common diseases and treatment, physiotherapy guidance, diet counseling, charts, power point presentations, skits, puppet shows, role plays on health related issues were the main highlights of the exhibition.

Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, Director of Father Muller College of Nursing presided over the inaugural function. Giving his presidential speech he said that nurses play vital role in preventing diseases.

Rev. Fr. Denis D'Sa, Administrator of Father Muller College of Nursing delivered introductory remarks.

Rev. Sr. Winnifred D'Souza, Principal of Father Muller College of Nursing welcomed the gathering, while, Vasantha G, Convener of the Muller Health Expo-2012 proposed vote of thanks.

Gadag, Apr 9: An 80-year-old woman who tested positive for COVID-19 passed away on Thursday due to cardiac arrest in Gadag, the district's Deputy Commissioner said.

She also had a history of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). Her body was disposed of as per the protocol, officials said.

According to the Karnataka Government, 10 new positive cases have been reported in the State today, taking the total COVID-19 cases to 191, including 28 discharged patients and six deaths.

With an increase of 540 positive COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours, India's tally of coronavirus cases has risen to 5,734, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

Out of the 5,734 cases, 5,095 are active COVID-19 cases and 472 patients have recovered while 166 have died.

Bengaluru, Jul 2: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru Director CS Patil said that good rainfall is expected in few districts during next five days.

The districts likely to receive rainfall include Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu. All these districts had received deficit rainfall till date from June 1.

"From June 1 to till date Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu districts received deficit rainfall. However, there is an expectation of good rainfall in these districts in next 5 days," said CS Patil.

"Coastal districts are very likely to experience light to moderate to widespread rainfall activity during the next five days," he added.

Hubli, Feb 19: The Karnataka Police on Wednesday registered a case against unknown persons for assaulting three Kashmiri students in the court premises here.

A suo motu FIR has been registered at Vidyanagar police station of Hubli in which assault charges have been filed against 10 to 15 unknown people.

It can be recalled that on February 17 these three Kashmiri students were attacked in court premises after they were produced in court on charges of sedition.

The Kashmiri students were arrested here on February 15 after their video in which they are seen allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans went viral.

The students were studying at the KLE Institute of Technology on a central government scholarship.
