Vasundhara Das tight-lipped on her wedding news

Mangalore, January 25: Though it has been weeks since the rumours regarding Vasundhara Das' marriage with her longtime boyfriend Roberto Narain has been making rounds, but the couple is still tight lipped.

Reports are that Vasundhara Das married Roberto Narain on December 29 at Koteshwar Beach near Mangalore in the Nanda Reddy guest house.

Vasundhara Das who made a debut with the Tamil film Citizen, acted in Kannada film Lankesh Pathrike with Darshan in the lead. Later she had acted with legendary actor Kamal Hassan in Hey Ram. The kissing sequence in Hey Ram created a storm in Malleshwaram.

Vasundhara Das hails from a traditional Iyengar family. Das also worked in Mira Nair`s Mansoon Wedding later.

Vasundhara and Roberto recorded a number of albums together. But Das denied news about any such relationship implying that they were just friends.

"Whether I have a personal relationship with Roberto or not is nobody`s business. Let my personal life remain private. Roberto and I have a studio and a band together. I have a very good working relationship with him. He is my business associate. We share a great comfort level whenever we are together, which I think is a must for every working relationship to thrive," she told in an interview.

Flight chartered by SAQCO brings stranded Kannadigas from Dammam to Mangaluru

Mangaluru, June 11: The private flight chartered by Saudi Arabia's SAQCO Contracting Company to repatriate coastal Kannadigas stranded in the kingdom landed at Mangaluru International Airport at 1:15 am on Wednesday.

The flight with 175 passengers took off from the Dammam International Airport around 6 pm (KSA time).

SAQCO’s Directors Althaf Ullal and Basheer Sagar said that all the legal procedures were carried out smoothly before the flight took off from Dammam for Mangaluru.

The duo also informed that no staff or official of SAQCO were traveling on the chartered flight and that it was arranged only for the stranded Kannadigas. The cost of traveling, institutional quarantine, and COVID-19 tests will be borne by the SAQCO Company.

SAQCO had established a desk to finalize the list of passengers who will be traveling on the flight to Mangaluru on Wednesday. The company added priority was given to pregnant women, the senior citizens who had come to the kingdom on visit visas, people with medical emergencies, people who had lost jobs, and those who had reported deaths in their families.

Onus lies on judiciary to ensure speedy justice: Karnataka HC Judge

Chamarajanagara, Jan 20: Karnataka High Court Judge P G M Patil has said that it was the responsibility of the judiciary to ensure that justice was not delayed.

He was speaking at a function marking the inauguration of the first and second floors of the district courts in Chamarajanagar town here last evening. He said that the role of the judiciary was critical in establishing justice in society and hence all efforts must be made to ensure that there was no delay in securing justice.

He observed that the district court has been provided with better amenities that should be utilized for the benefit of the public. The district is no longer backward. It has shown progress and development in recent years and has produced three HC judges, Justice Patil added.

Yasir Hasan elected PFI Karnataka state chief, Nasir Pasha general secretary

Mangaluru, Feb 29: The state general assembly (SGA) of Karnataka unit of the Popular Front of India was held from February 27 to 29, 2020 at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district wherein new functionaries were elected for the next two years.

Yasir Hasan was elected president of the state unit of the organisation while Nasir Pasha was elected general secretary. Ayub K Agnady, Mohammed Sharief and Shahid Nasir were elected vice president, secretary and treasurer respectively.

The state executive committee members are: Abdul Khader, Abdul Majeed, Sharief Kodaje and Mohammed Tafseer.

The SAG commenced with the hoisting of flag by outgoing president Muhammad Saqib on February 27. The three day meeting analyzed the growth and activities of the PFI for the past two years. It was observed that the organization has received positive acceptance among the society.
