Acme-2012 begins at St Aloysius College

Mangalore, February 1: 'Acme 2012' a national-level commerce fest organized by the Commerce Association of St Aloysius College commenced on Wednesday.

Fr Denzil Lobo, Director of AIMIT inaugurated the Fest at Eric Mathias Hall.

The theme of Acme-2012 is 'the entertainment industry.' The entertainment industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that includes cinema, television, theatres and music. While the aim of the industry is to amuse the old and the young, it also manages to reap huge profits every year, making it one of the largest industries in the world.

Acme 2012 aims at covering the corporate aspects of showbiz and bringing out creativity and innovation among the participants.

The events of two-day fest include—'Godfather' (corporate survivor), 'Gone in 60 seconds' (real marketing), '12 Angry men' (human capital management), 'the apprentice' (entrepreneurship development), 'Game of Thrones' (crisis), 21 (finance), 'so you think you can quiz?' (Business quiz), and 'the wheeler's dealers' (mock stock).

About 120 participants from various colleges across the nation are taking part in the event.

College Principal Fr Swebert D'Silva said for the last 12 years, Acme has been bringing together various colleges, showcasing talents and rewarding the best. Vice Principal Fr. Francis Almeida was also present.

Udupi, Jul 21: Udupi Court complex has been sealed down for two days for sanitisation after a judge tested positive for Covid-19, a source said on Tuesday.

The Covid cases in Udupi district which had reduced recently are once again seeing a spurt. On Monday, as many as 98 have tested positive taking the total cases in the district to 2,321.

Bengaluru, Jun 12: All the four candidates, including former prime minister H D Deve Gowda (JDS), and senior Congress leader Mallikarjna Kharge, on Friday were declared elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka.

Karnataka Assembly Secretary sources here said that all the four candidates, who were in the fray for as many berths, were elected after the last date of withdrawal of candidature ended on Friday.

Bengaluru, Apr 25: KPCC president D K Shivakumar, has alleged that BJP leaders from the state have sold rice that was meant to be distributed to the poor in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, he stated that Congress fully supports the government’s work in the prevention of the spread of COVID-19, but maybe unknown to the Chief Minister, corrupt dealings are which we want to bring to his attention.

He alleged that 1,879 quintals of rice brought from Haryana have been illegally sold to a businessman in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
