District Administration to host 'Rave Party' at St Mary's Island

islndUdupi, February 1: Udupi district administration and 3W Concepts have come together to host a kind of Rave Party, at St Mary's Island from February 3-5.

This party termed as the Island festival `Spring Zouk- 2012' will play host to foreigners and high profile tourists from for the first time at St Mary's Island, in Udupi district from Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune and other metros.

This Island festival, aimed to promote the local and tribal art forms such as Yakshagana, Kudubi and various other tribal art forms such as Thalavattam, will also have the Indo-Western Music and arts.

Deputy Commissioner of Udupi MT Reju and Managing Partner of 3W Concepts Girish Shetty in a press release said: This is aimed at highlighting the tribes thereby giving a much needed awareness and boost for their respective art-forms.

With such performances, the local artists are therefore sharing the platform with world famous musicians such as Juno Reactor, Prem Joshua. Some of the best national and international DJs will also participate in the festival. Apart from tourists from all over the world, tourists The event will play host to two music stages, along with the fun and frolic of a market named Zouk Bazaar. Various food and beverage outlets will be available to cater to everybody's needs. The event is well secured with lifeguards throughout the festival and round the clock police security.

This has been conceptualised to create an annual gathering that will boost the popularity of such arts and create a high quality platform for such gatherings across country. It also aims to promote tourism and trade in the region by making people aware of the Island, its geographical importance and also the surrounding areas, which for a large part have been left to be undiscovered, said a press release.

Mangaluru, May 15: In a shocking development, as many as 20 people from coastal Karnataka, who recently came from United Arab Emirates today tested positive for covid-19.

More than 175 repatriates were brought from Dubai to Mangaluru International Airport on May 12. Among them residents of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts were quarantined in their respective district. 

The throat swabs of all the passengers were sent for covid-19 testing on the following day. 21 of them obtained positive report today. Among those tested covid-19 positive, 15 are residents of Dakshina Kannada and five are from Udupi district. 

They were shifted to covid-19 hospitals in their respective districts today.

Mangaluru, Apr 20: As Wenlock hospital has been converted into corona hospital, all the heads of private medical college hospitals have been instructed to treat Wenlock Hospital's out patients and in patients at a government hospital fare or at the charges of Wenlock Hospital, said Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh on Sunday.

Treatment is also been given at Bijai, Yekkur, Kulur, Jeppu, Surathkal, Kulai, Padil, Shaktinagar, Bengre and Bunder Primary Health Centers. Patients with MLC (Medico Legal Case) or Police Case may seek treatment at a private medical college or city primary center.

Some private hospitals have already agreed to provide free dialysis services, as requested by the government.

Mangaluru, Mar 7: After coronavirus cases were confirmed in different parts of the country, there has been a sudden jump in demand for mask and safety gears like gloves and sanitizers in Mangaluru and Udupi.

With the increase in demand, medical shop owners said that they were finding it difficult to meet the demand.

In fact, there is a demand for bulk supply of masks and gloves. There was demand for masks when Covid-19 was confirmed in China two months ago. Bulk quantities of masks were purchased in order to supply them to Indian employees working in China. A few private firms had purchased masks from Mangaluru in the month of December.
