SpiceJet's Mangalore-Mumbai daily flight begins

Mangalore, February 2: Private airliner SpiceJet has started operating a daily flight between Mangalore and Mumbai from Wednesday.

The first flight of landed at Mangalore Airport at 11:55 am on Wednesday, with 78 passengers on board and flew back to Mumbai at 12:25 pm with around 100 passengers on board, according to M.R. Vasudeva, Director, Mangalore Airport.

He said every day the flight flight would take off from Mumbai at 10:25 a.m. and return to Mumbai at 1.55 p.m. The same flight would take off at 2.35 p.m. and land at Surat at 3.20 p.m. It would depart at 4.05 p.m. to reach Delhi at 5.45 p.m.

The aircraft would take off from Delhi at 6.25 a.m. and land at Surat at 8.05 a.m. It would depart at 8.35 a.m. and reach Mumbai at 9.20 a.m. The flight would take off from Mumbai to Mangalore at 10.25 a.m., Mr. Vasudeva said.

With this Mangalore would have four flights to Mumbai now. So far, the Jet Airways has two flights and Air India has one, he said.

Mr. Vasudeva said Kingfisher airlines which had suspended its flight service from here to Mumbai had proposed to re-introduce it from March 25, 2012.

According to the schedule, the flight would arrive here from Mumbai at 2.10 p.m. and take off to Mumbai at 2.20 p.m., he said.

Bengaluru, Jul 22: Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala, had appointed five persons to the Karnataka Legislative Council, which remained vacant, including former ministers H Vishwanath and C P Yogeshwar, here on Wednesday.

In a Raj Bhavan communique issued here on Wednesday, it was stated that the Governor had accepted the names suggested by the Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, to fill the vacancies in the Upper House.

Apart from H Vishwanath, and Yogeshwar, the others who were nominated to the Council, were former MLA Bharathi Shetty, Shantharama Budna Siddi, and Talwar Sabanna.

Mangaluru, Jun 29: A three year old child lost its life after being hit by a car at Nadupadavu village under the limits of Konaje police station on the outskirts of the city today. 

The victim has been identified as Faheema (3), daughter of  Farooq, a resident of Nadupadavu. 

The mishap occurred when the girl ran towards the road when the car was entering a main road from an inner road.

Mangaluru, July 1: The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 in entire Dakshina Kannada between 8pm and 5am in the entire month of July.

Notice in this regard was issued today by Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Roopesh. The order will come into force with immediate and will be in place ill July 31, the DC said.

The decision was taken days after Karnataka government took steps to tighten covid restriction and imposed lockdown from 8pm to 5am. 

Under the imposed Section 144, the presence or movement of one or more persons in public places are prohibited. Besides, the gathering of any sort anywhere, including religious places subject to certain conditions in view of the COVID-19 pandemic will also be restricted.
