ABVP backed boycott enters second day in University College; Students forced out of classroom

Mangalore, February 2: Nearly 200 students of University College in Hampankatta here, staged a dharna on Thursday, the second day of ABVP-backed boycott, seeking the fulfillment of their various demands including conducting the Jago Bharath campaign in the College premises by inviting its convener Chakravarti Sulibele as a chief guest for 'Vivekananda Jayanti' scheduled to be held on February 6.

The protesters have also allegedly threatened other students who wanted to sit inside the classes defying the ABVP backed boycott call.

Meanwhile a group of peaceful students has submitted a memorandum to the College Principal Laxminarayana Bhatta, demanding to take action against the 'goons' who stormed into a class room on Thursday morning forcing the students to participate in the protest.

A girl student of a first year degree course, on condition of anonymity said that though the protest was going on under the banner of 'Students Union of University College', ABVP had indeed hatched this conspiracy.

The Principal has stated in a press release that the disciplinary committee has decided not to give permission for the students to host Jago Bharth programmes and invite Mr Sulibele to deliver the keynote address on Vivekanada Jayanti. The decision was taken in order avoid the possibility of the spread of disharmony among the students of different religions and castes, he said.

Mr Bhatta also brushed aside the media reports, which quoted the protesters saying that the College had denied permission to celebrate Vivekanada Jayanti and that the Principal had initially had given permission to invite Mr Sulibele and then took a U-turn. “All these are baseless allegations. We are celebrating Vivekanada Jayanti every year peacefully and this year too the programme is scheduled for February 6. However, we had never given permission for the students to invite Mr Sulibele”, he said.

The principal also clarified that the College cannot fulfill all the demands of the students without reviewing them.

The demands of the protesters also include sacking of the principal for inviting DYFI leader Muneer Katipalla to deliver a lecture in a programme, and not taking stringent action against a few lecturers of the college including Pattabhirama Somayaji for allegedly “supporting communalism and naxalism”.

Meanwhile, in a press release, ABVP has stated that it would support the ongoing protest.

Bengaluru, Mar 11: DK Shivakumar has been appointed as the new president of the party's Karnataka unit, an official said on Wednesday.

"Congress president (Sonia Gandhi) has appointed D.K. Shivakumar as the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC)," said party's general secretary K.C. Venugopal in a statement from New Delhi.

Party's state unit leaders Eshwar Khandre, Satish Jharkiholi and Saleem Ahammed are the working presidents in the southern state.

"Former chief minister Siddaramaiah will continue as the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and opposition leader in the state legislative assembly.

MLC M. Narayanswamy and MLA Ajay Singh will be the party's chief whips in the state legislative council and assembly.

Congress appoints Anil Chaudhary as DPCC chief

The Congress on Wednesday appointed former MLA Anil Chaudhary as its Delhi unit chief, while also naming five vice-presidents for the DPCC.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi named Chaudhary president and Abhishek Dutt, Shivani Chopra, Jaikishan, Mudit Agarwal and Ali Hassan vice-presidents of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), a party statement said.

Subhash Chopra had resigned as the Delhi Congress chief in February, taking moral responsibility for the party's debacle in the Assembly polls.

The Congress drew a blank for the second time in a row in the Delhi Assembly polls and reduced its vote share from 9.7 per cent in 2015 to 4.27 per cent this time.

Bengaluru, Apr 21: Hardline BJP leader and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, who had deleted some of his old sexist tweets while contesting for Lok Sabha polls, yesterday deleted deleted his ugly remarks against Arab woman after it went viral and triggered sharp response from  many quarters, including from the Arab world.

In 2015, before Surya became an MP, he had said in a tweet, "95% of Arab women have never had an orgasm in the last few hundred years! Every mother has produced kids as an act of sex and not love. @Tarek Fatah."

The old tweet was picked up some influential members in the Arab community. Many intellectuals and various members of the royal families too have over the past few days condemned the attacks on Muslims in India and called out instances on Islamophobia. They have been highlighting derogatory comments about the Arab community purportedly made by supporters of the ruling BJP. It was then that a few found that even present day recognised leaders like Tejasvi had made similar comments in the past.

As the outrage grew, Tejasvi deleted the old tweet. A lot of BJP supporters on Twitter then started pointing out that Tejasvi Surya had merely quoted Canadian journalist Tareh Fatah, known for his anti-Islam comments. But by then someone had archived the tweet and Tejasvi's response to it in 2015.

In a thread to the same tweet, responding to criticism, Surya had said that these were not his opinion but attributed to Tarek Fatah. He also said that he agrees with Fateh's position that 'Islamofascism was a threat to all civilsations'.

Surya could not be reached for a comment.

However, a source close to Surya, said, "This is a 2015 tweet where Tejasvi Surya was quoting Tarek Fatah from an interview. It is being wrongly attributed to him with malicious intent. The main issue being addressed in the interview was about the barbaric and inhuman practice of genital mutilation of women. If there's any person to comment on it, it has to be Tarek Fatah."

Tejasvi Surya had landed in a similar controversy soon after his nomination as a candidate just ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Surya could not be reached for a comment.

But the chickens usually come home to roost. Today, India stands embarrassed, humiliated.”

This fellow from the bottom to now educted and trained in rss organization  and in their school. And he was nomnated by the terror rss HQ only to ignite  terror and communal activity and  not form any social work or record. He was elected by WVM poeer and not by peoples choice. One or th other day EVM  secracy will be unlocked  thenall these chaddi Dhaari will be side lined and vanished by the peace loving  PATRIOT Indians.

 

 Now the present ruling party's policy and steps all are 100% jews guideline all behind the screen.

 

But truth  always  leads and Win.  

So blind bhaks must awake and divert  their mind toward TRUTH to lead a peace life in the human society.

Thejaswi or his god fathers will never  support - their group adn policy is entirely diffenetn and they never support or mingle with fellow Hindus.  All must remeber and  think about their beloved family and dependents i/o of rss chaddi.

still now arab belived Hindus are good people, now one by one coming to know their evil mindset which is inside their heart...most of the hindus are nowdays communual, so all muslim must be carefull.

 

one of my hindu friend who is with me from childhood 20 years recently supported CAA and NRC and we divide, till then i never thought that he was like this, i supported him finiancially in all help...

 

INDIA is belog to muslim first then to hindus, we are the front runner of indian independence,

 

so all muslim community first support his community either in job, money, help etc...for them they have their BJP & RSS.

 

Now in saudi & UAE they annonced that any Hindutva militen who is spreading against muslim & islam sitiing in GCC must be reoported without any delay.

Udupi, Feb 10: The throat swabs of three suspected coronavirus patients in Udupi that was sent for tests have come back as negative.

Throat swabs of three persons who got admitted at a district government hospital in Udupi with symptoms of fever on Friday was sent to Bangalore medical college and research institute for test to know whether the admitted persons who returned from China 15 days back had contracted coronavirus.

The 30-year-old man from Kaup taluk had been China on personal work and had returned to Udupi 15 days back. Upon showing the symptoms of fever, throat pain and cold, he was suggested to get admitted.

He was admitted in the isolation ward and was directed to remain under quarantine till the observation period ends and till the test report is obtained.

Another family from Mandarthi, a man and his wife, who had returned after a tour from China 15 days back were also kept under observation at the isolation ward in the district government hospital, Udupi.

Udupi DC G Jagadish has said that there are no coronavirus case reported in Udupi and people need not panic. Sources said that the three tested negatives for coronavirus in Udupi will be discharged from the hospital on Monday.
