Misuse of Army uniform during Milad rally: police raid houses

Kasargod, February 9: The police have recovered six pairs of uniform similar to that of the Army's in raids at houses in the Balla and Meenapees beach areas here.

A police team headed by Kanhangad Circle Inspector K V Vengugopal recovered the dress, believed to have been used by some youths during a rally taken out at Kanhangad on the occasion of Eid Milad observed on February 5.

The police have raided as many as 22 houses during the last two days. Some of the houses are at Athinjhal near here. The police got information that some volunteers who participated in the rally hailed from this locality. No one has been taken into custody in connection with the rally, but cases have been registered against 38 persons.

Bengaluru, Jan 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called on young scientists of India to "Innovate, Patent, Produce and Prosper," and said these four steps would lead our country towards faster development. The Prime Minister also stressed on the need to transform the landscape of Indian science, technology and innovation.

"The growth story of India depends on its success in the science and technology sector. There is a need to transform the landscape of Indian science, technology and innovation," Modi said.

Speaking after inaugurating the 107th Session of Indian Science Congress, he said, "My motto for the young scientists in this country is -Innovate, Patent, Produce and Prosper. These four steps will lead our country towards faster development."

"If we innovate we will patent and that in turn will make our production smoother and when we take these products to the people of our country, I'm sure they will prosper," he said, adding that innovation for the people and by the people is the direction of our new India. The Prime Minister also said he was happy to learn that India's ranking has improved in the Global Innovation Index to 52.

"Our programmes have created more technology business incubators in the last five years than in the previous 50 years. I congratulate our scientists for this achievement," he added.

Udupi, Apr 4: District Commissioner Jagadeesh has warned that the vehicles of people who break lockdown norms will be seized.
 
Addressing the media, he said, “People who want to buy essential items are allowed come out of the house between 1100 hrs and 1900 hrs, but we have noticed that some are unnecessarily coming out and blocking the roads. If this continues, vehicles of such people will be seized.”
 
No new COVID-19 positive cases were reported since Friday Udupi district.

Kasaragod, Mar 11: An accused in a POCSO case here has been put in an isolation ward at the Government hospital on Wednesday as he was suspected having symptoms of Covid19.

The accused has been absconding ever since a case under POCSO Act was registered against him a year ago.

However acting on a tip off, the Kasaragod police arrested him at Mangalore Airport recently and was produced before the Court and was remanded to judicial custody.
