Mangalore, February 19: Department of Public Instructions, Bharath Seva Dal DK District committee and Bharath Seva Dal Mangalore Taluk committee will be jointly organizing district level Bhavaikyata Makkala Mela -2012' on Wednesday, February 22, at Bharatha High School, Ullal, near here.

Mangalore MLA U T Khader, who is president of the organizing committee of the event told media persons here on Saturday that around 3,500 children and teachers from 380 schools across the district would participate in it.

He said the participants for the convention had been selected from the taluk-level conventions. March past and drill will also be the part of convention. Cultural programmes would be held in the afternoon.

Mr Khader said, Minister for Primary Education Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri would be the guest during the valedictory. Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer K.N. Vijaya Prakash would inaugurate the march past. Deputy Speaker of the Assembly N. Yogish Bhat and Deputy Director of Public Instruction Moses Jayashekar would also participate in the event.

DVS skips quarantine, says he has to ensure medicine supply across country

Bengaluru, May 25: After facing flak from the opposition for skipping quarantine rules to contain COVID-19 spread, Union Minister Sadananda Gowda on Monday said there are certain exemption clauses for those who hold certain responsible posts, adding that he cannot go under quarantine as he has to ensure medical supply in every part of the country.

"Guidelines are applicable to all citizens, but there are certain exemption clauses, for those who hold certain responsible posts," Gowda told media on being asked about allegations by opposition parties that he did not go to required institutional quarantine after domestic air travel from Delhi to Bengaluru.

"I am a Minister and I am heading Pharmaceutical Ministry. If the supply of medicines and other things is not proper then what doctors can do for patients, is it not a failure of government? It' is my responsibility to ensure the supply of medicines to each corner of the country," he said.

Earlier in the day, the BJP MP, who arrived at Bengaluru airport from Delhi and straight away got into his car and drove to his residence. He skipped the institutional quarantine measures as set by the Central government.

Karnataka Director General of Police Praveen Sood said: "Incoming domestic flight passengers from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh will undergo 7-day institutional Quarantine followed by home quarantine."

This is called has nagpur soldiers. He might think this virus has given excuse to all bjpean's or why he jumped out from the airport quarantine regulation. If the virus infected to any others what will.he do. What will his media will telecast. Same like Delhi they will target some other community.

India suspends scheduled international flights till July 31

New Delhi, Jul 3: The aviation regulator DGCA said on Friday it was extending the suspension of scheduled international passenger flights in the country till July 31 but added that some international scheduled services on selected routes may be permitted on a case to case basis.

Scheduled international passenger flights were suspended in India on March 23 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Modifying its June 26 circular that stated that scheduled international passenger flights will remain suspended till July 15, 2020, the regulator stated on Friday it has decided to extend the deadline to July 31, 2020.

However, international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case to case basis,” said the circular by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Air India and other private domestic airlines have been operating unscheduled international repatriation flights under the Vande Bharat Mission, which was started on May 6 by the Central government.

India resumed scheduled domestic passenger flights on May 25, after a gap of two months.

Cop hangs self in KSRP bus on the way to hospital after testing covid-19 positive

Bengaluru, June 23: A head constable from Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) committed suicide on board a bus after testing positive for COVID-19 in the city.

As per sources, the 50-year-old head constable had tested positive for coronavirus last evening and today he was being taken to a hospital in KSRP bus.

It is learned that he hanged himself to death inside the bus as there was no one else.
