Samasta Sandesha Rally held in Mangalore

Mangalore, February 20: A rally was held in the city as a prelude to the 85th annual meeting of the Samasta Kerala Jamiyyatul Ulema under the banner Samasta Sandesha Rally.

The rally on Sunday was also a part of the Ilal Habeeb Milad celebrations. It was inaugurated by U.T. Khader, Mangalore MLA, at the Zeenath Baksh Jumma Masjid. The procession culminated at Idgah Jumma Masjid, Light House Hill, with a meeting addressed among others by Ibrahim Baqavi, treasurer of district unit of Samasta, K.L. Umar Darimi, president of Mangalore Range Jamiyyatul Muallimeen, and Abdul Rashid Faizi, Kannur.

A large number of Madrasa students dressed in their uniforms and displaying Duff participated in the procession. Former mayor Ashraf, Haneef Haji, Abbobaker N.K. Kudroli, Basha Thangal, Riyazuddin Haji, among others, were present.

Mustafa Faizi welcomed the gathering. Hasan Bengre proposed a vote of thanks. Basheer Azhari and Rafeeq Ajjavara compered the programme.

Bengaluru, Mar 23: Following the alarming increase in Coronavirus cases, Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao on Monday said that those subjected to home quarantine stamping would be arrested if they were found to visit public places.

"5,000 Home quarantine stamping was carried to ensure that they remain in home and not to be seen in public places for their own interest as well as in an attempt to prevent spread of Coronavirus", he tweeted.

"I have received information on some of those stamped are moving in BMTC (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses and sitting in restaurants. Please call 100, these people will be picked up, arrested and sent to government quarantine," Rao said.

Mangaluru, Jun 2: The Karnataka Muzarai department, whose main income comes through temple and other religious places of worship, has incurred a loss of Rs 600 Crore in revenue during the lock-down, Minister for Muzrai Kota Srinivas Poojary said on Monday.

Addressing reporters here, he said the Kollur Sri Mookambika temple alone lost revenue of about Rs 14 crore it was earning during April and May.

Around 300 A and B grade temples under Muzrai (Hindu religious institutions and charitable endowments) department in the State lost around 35 per cent of their annual income, he said.

Udupi, May 31: As many as 10 people have been tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district today. 

The district has registered a total of 187 positive cases so far. Majority of the positive cases in Udupi district have inter-state travel history to Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, 14 people including three children who recovered from COVID -19 discharged from Government Hospital in Kundapura, in Udupi district.

Kundapura AC Raju, DHO Dr Sudhirchandra Sooda, taluk medical officer Dr Nagabhushan Udupa handed over a rose to all the discharged. With this, a total of 64 persons have been recovered and discharged in the district.
