Mangalore, February 21: Well-known dental surgeon of the city Dr U S Mohandas Nayak died on Monday night.


He was 76. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a large number of relatives and friends.

Dr Nayak graduated from Government Dental College, Madras, India in 1959. Having obtained a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, he served as Dental Surgeon at Govt. Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore from 1960-1972.

His vision to fulfill the need for specialized dental care and treatment resulted in the establishment of Nayak's Dental Clinic at Attavar in Mangalore in the year 1960.

As a Reader in Dental Surgery at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore since 1960 to 1974, Dr Nayak was well versed in the techniques involved in dentistry and related sciences. He was awarded the Fellowship of the International College of Dentists recognizing his outstanding services to the society.

He was the Founder Consultant Dental Surgeon at Fr. Mullers Hospital, Mangalore from 1974-1976. He was also the Consultant at Kudremukh Iron Ore Company and New Mangalore Port Trust Hospital. Since 1976 he was into full time practice at the Clinic.

Dr Nayak had an impressive list of achievements in the social and professional spheres of life. To top it all he has also been the Past National President of the Indian Dental Association in the year 1993-94. He was also the President of the Canara Group of Institutions.

Newsroom, June 14: Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead in his house in Mumbai’s Bandra today, was heartbroken after the death of his former manager Disha Salian.

34-year-old actor had posted a heartfelt note after her death: “It’s such devastating news. My deepest condolences to Disha’s family and friends. May your soul rest in peace.” 

The police are considering 28-year-old Disha’s death as an accidental one and the investigation is on to find if it was a suicide. She died after falling off the 14th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai on June 8.

It is not yet known if there is any connection between the two deaths. Sushant’s house help reportedly found him hanging inside his room on Sunday and cops are investigating the case. He was recently seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore and more recently on Netflix opposite Jacqueline Fernandez in Drive.

Who is Disha Salian?

Disha Salian hails from Karnataka’s coastal district of Udupi. She was born in 1992 into a business family background. She reportedly migrated to Mumbai with her family at an early age. 

After completing her education, she worked in the Times of India Group for more than three years. The she went on the become the celebrity manager at Media Vantage.

Apart from Sushant, she had great links with many popular celebrities like Bharti Singh, Alisha Panwar, and others.

Mangaluru, Mar 29: Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Limited in a statement announced that their milk collection centres across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will be closed on March 29 and 30.

Due to a shortage of storage space with them, the Union has decided to stop collecting milk on these two days, according to the statement issued here on Saturday.

The sale/retail of milk and milk products won’t be affected in these two days.

Hubballi, Jan 11: Karnataka Industries Minister Jagadeesh Shatter's mother Basvennamma Shivappa Shetter passed away here on Friday evening.

She was 86. She is survived by three sons and a daughter.

The final rituals was held on Saturday, family sources said.
