Security guard killed by six men for refusing entry to building in midnight

Mangalore, February 28: A scuffle broke out between a security guard and staff of a building in city in the wee hours of Tuesday resulted in the death of the guard.

The victim has been identified as Hubli based Ganesh, who was posted on night duty at Essel Towers at Bunts Hostel.

Sources said that six people, who had an office at the sixth floor of the same Essel Tower, approached the main entrance gate of the building around 1:00 am and asked the security guard to open it.

Ganesh refused to open the entrance gate saying that he was asked by the owners to close the gate exactly at 10 am and not to allow anyone inside the building thereafter.

The six people began to quarrel with the guard and in a fit of rage they attacked him. It is learnt that the accused assaulted the victim with an aluminum rod and kicked him after pinning him to the ground. A critically injured Ganesh died on spot.

Two among the six accused - identified as Adam Sheikh and Abdul Khader - were arrested within hours, it is learnt.

Mngalore North Police station has registered a case and investigations are on.

Bengaluru, May 29: The Karnataka government has requested the Civil Aviation Ministry to reduce the number of flights, emanating from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan to the state in view of the high number of Covid-19 Cases prevalent there.

In a clarification issued to the Media this evening, the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mr J C Madhuswamy has said that Karnataka has not sought for imposing a ban on flights emanating from these places, as reported in some sections of the Media.

Karnataka has appealed to the Civil Aviation Ministry to take steps to lessen the air traffic to the State, with the sacred intention that there may not be adequate quarantine facilities if there is huge turnout at a short period, he added.

Kasaragod, Mar 31: The latest incidents of critically-ill patients dying due to lack of medical attention has been a cause of concern for the people here who had largely been depended on hospitals in Mangalore.

However the lock down has hindered follow-up treatment for these critically ill as the Karnataka authorities has been steadfast in restricting entry into their land.

The people of Kasaragod has been largely depended on the medical facilities in Mangalore for critical illness care. It was the gross inadequacies in critical healthcare in the district besides rather-easy proximity to nearby and bigger town that many residing on the north-east of the district have since long been making it to Mangalore for treatment of critical illness like cancer, dialysis and the alike.

Chennai, July 27: Multi-lingual actress Vijayalakshmi, who attempted suicide yesterday, alleging harassment and bullying by followers of Naam Thamizhar party leader Seeman and Panankattu Padai’s Hari Nadar, is recuperating at a hospital in Chennai. 

Vijayalakshmi is known for films like Friends and Boss Engira Baskaran. She recently made headlines for speaking against Seeman and the torture she was allegedly facing from the actor-turned-politician and his party.

In the video which was uploaded on Sunday evening, Vijayalakshmi said, “This is my last video and I have been in tremendous stress in the last four months because of Seeman and his partymen. I tried my level best to survive all these days because of my mother and sister, but I have been humiliated in the media by Harinadar recently.”

She added, “I would like to tell fans who are watching the video just because I was born in Karnataka, Seeman has tortured me a lot. As a woman, I have put up with it to my highest capabilities. I won’t be able handle the pressure anymore. I am from the Pillai community, the same community LTTE leader Prabhakaran is part of. Prabhakaran is the only reason Seeman is who he is today, but now he has been harassing me on social media continuously. You slut shamed me to make me feel the pain and it is up to me to decide on what to do after facing such insults from you. I request my fans not to let Seeman get away from this case. He should never get anticipatory bail. My death should be a big eye-opener to everyone. I don’t want to be a slave to anybody.”
