Mangalore, March 2: Criticizing the current foreign policy being adopted by the central government, E Aboobakkar, National President, SDPI said that India is trying to please the US and Israel.

He was speaking at the party's 'People's Political Conference' held at Nehru Maidan in the city on Friday.

“What was the need to set up an Israeli consulate in Bangalore when that country doesn't possess even half the population of Bangalore? There is a huge population of Indians working in Saudi Arabia. But India has the sole consulate office of Saudi Arabia in Mumbai. We must comprehend as to why India is trying to build relations with Israel”, he said.

He accused the current as well as previous governments of neglecting the weaker sections of the society. “All previous governments cutting across party lines, never bothered about the Dalits and the backward classes. The Congress has stuck to its dynasty rule and the BJP to its Brahmin supremacy policy causing widespread social injustice. Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) is a party for all, aiming to make people supreme” said

Attacking the Congress further, he said that although RSS executed the Babri Masjid demolition, the Congress supported it. Similarly, Mr. Aboobakkar said, although RSS was found to be behind various terror strikes in the country, it was the Congress that arrested innocent Muslims and put them behind bars.

Lambasting the BJP and Sangh Parivar over the Pakistan flag hoisting issue at Sindagi, Mr. Aboobakkar said that their actions show their affiliation to Pakistan. “L K Advani's roots are in Pakistan. What more could you expect from the followers of a man who praised Jinnah when he visited Pakistan? These very same people stop us from hoisting the Indian national flag on our independence day,” he observed.

The party's National President also asserted the gathering that SDPI was not a 'Muslim party'. “This is a party for all communities, for people of all faiths. We are against Hindutva, but not against Hindus”, he said.

Mr. Hafiz Mansoor Ali Khan, National General Secretary, SDPI, in his address criticized the double standards adopted by BJP on corruption issues. “Advaniji takes out a rath yatra against corruption but doesn't see corruption crimes committed by Yeddyurappa and Reddy brothers and the rampant corruption in the BJP ruled states of Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. The Reddy brothers have looted lands from 'adivasis' and tribals of the region and they have been made to lead their lives on footpaths. All parties claim that they want to put an end to corruption. But the reality is evident from the fact that most of those parties have given election tickets to corrupt people in the UP polls”, he said.

In his keynote address, Mr. Abdul Majeed Kodlipete, State President, SDPI, said that even after 60 years of independence, evils such as foeticides, malnutrition, child prostitution etc are prevalent. This is not just an insult to the nation but also an insult to the Congress which ruled it for so long, he said.

Mr. Abdul Jaleel K, DK District President, SDPI, presided. Mr. Akbar Ali, District General Secretary and Conference Convenor, welcomed. Vice President Nasir Sajipa delivered the vote of thanks. Thoul Thiru Mavalavan, Member of Parliament and State President, Viduthalai Chiruthagal Katchi, Tamil Nadu, K M Shareef, National Chief Secretary, PFI, Riaz Pasha, Karnataka State Chief Secretary, PFI, Ms. Hemalatha, SDPI State Secretary, Abdul Lateef, Vice Presidenrt, State Chief Secretaries Abdul Hannan and Afsar Pasha were among others present on the occasion.
