He said that JD(S) fielded Bhojegowda for Udupi-Chikmagalur pypoll to win and not to make any adjustments with BJP. More young leaders from BJP and Congress would join JD(S) soon, he added.

Mr Sabhapathi said he delayed joining JD(S) to take up anti-Nagarjuna protest apolitical.

Lashing out at the State government he said there was neither social justice nor political values in BJP rule. He also condemned the government's inaction during attack on media persons at civil court premises in Bangalore.

Mr Bhojegowda said that a large number of Sabhapathi's supports would follow him and they would be inducted into the party in another programme in the presence of JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy.

President of the district unit of JD (S) Deviprasad Shetty on Saturday had announced the induction of Mr Sabhapathi into JD(S).

Mr. Sabhapathi was elected MLA from the Udupi Assembly constituency in 1994 on the Karnataka Congress Party (KCP) ticket. Later the KCP merged with Congress.

Mr. Sabhapathi was re-elected from Udupi Assembly constituency in 1999 as a Congress candidate, but lost against BJP's K Raghupati Bhat in 2004.

Coimbatore, June 1: A communal conspiracy has been aborted by the police by arrested a miscreant who had placed meat in front of Venugopala Krishnaswamy Temple and Sri Ragavendra Temple in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

The miscreant has been identified as S Hari Ramprakash, 48, of Kavundampalayam in Coimbatore. He is a civil engineering graduate. It is suspected that He is a Sangh Parivar activist and the intention behind his act was to put the blame on Muslims.

Even though officials claimed that Hari appeared to be mentally disturbed, there were no medical records that stated he was mentally disturbed.

Two separate cases were registered against Hari. He was booked under sections 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups) 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 298 (uttering words etc, with deliberate intent to wound religious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code.

City police commissioner Sumit Sharan said, “We collected CCTV footage and found a man, who had parked his motorcycle near the two temples and returned from the temples. Based on the registration number, we traced and arrested Hari.”

Commissioner added that the city has CCTV cameras in many places and it helped police officials crack the case faster. The police said he purchased one kg of pork meat from a shop at Kavundamapalaym last Friday morning and placed it in front of the temples on the same day.

Mangaluru, July 23: Lavanya Ballal, national co-coordinator for social media department of Indian National Congress, has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of destroying the nation by misleading the youth.

In an interview with a regional Kannada news paper, the Dakshina Kannada based activist, lamented that instead of using social media for the welfare of the nation, BJP leaders used it to spread lies for their political gains.

On one hand BJP fooled people through false promises and colourful dialogues, while on the other hand it misled crores of youth by spreading fake news, twisted facts and false information, she said.

Ms Ballal went on to accuse BJP of following the footsteps of the British. “BJP is following all the methods employed by the British invaders to divide the people of India and make them hate each other,” she said.

She said that Congress always used the social media for the benefit of the country. If the new generation realises this fact, the country will once again turn its direction towards development, she asserted.
