NITK emerges victorious Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2012

Manipal, March 8: The Manipal regional round of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2012 witnessed one of the most exciting and enthralling battle of wits on Tuesday, at the Manipal Institute of Technology.

After a grueling and close contest, the team from NITK-Suratkal comprising of Chaitanya and Samrat edged out Nil Jadhav and Vikas Rao of TAPAI-Management Institute to make it to the national finals to be held in Mumbai on April 8, 2012.

The chief guest Kumkum Garg, Director, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) felicitated the winners with a cash prize of Rs 75,000. The winning team from Manipal will now compete with the regional winners from across the 23 other cities, where the quiz is being organised. The runners-up teams from TAPAI-Management Institute were awarded a cash prize of Rs 35,000.

The Manipal regional round of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2012 saw participation from almost 200 at the preliminary rounds. The top six teams who qualified for the regional stage rounds were:

4. NMAMIT College

5. NITK College-MBA

6. NITK-Suratkal

Tata Crucible Campus Quiz is known for producing new innovations in its quiz format to keep the contestants and audience on their toes, and this year was no different. The quiz was hosted by ace quizmaster Mr. Giri Balasubramaniam a.k.a. Pickbrain who through his distinctive style got the best out of the contestants and kept the audience captivated with the high-voltage action on stage.

After Manipal, the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2012 will now move on to Cochin (9th Mar), Amritsar (13th Mar), Chandigarh (14th Mar), Rohtak (15th Mar), Guwahati (18th Mar), Jaipur (20th Mar), Goa (23rd Mar), Mumbai (24th Mar), Pune (25th Mar), Indore (27th Mar), Ahmedabad (29th Mar), Delhi (31st Mar), Lucknow (1st Apr), Patna (2nd Apr) and Kolkata (6th Apr).

To add to the excitement and scale of the event, there will be a mega International Final in Mumbai wherein the winners and runners-up from the national finals will compete with the winners and runners-up of the UK and Singapore editions, held earlier this financial year, for the coveted title of International Champions.

Bengaluru, Feb 8: The Department of Religious Endowments in Karnataka will undertake 'Ratha Yatras' in 110 major temples of the state, in order to inform the public about mass marriages, scheduled to be held on April 26.

The publicity campaign through Rath Yatra will be flagged off from Mookambika temple in Kollur of Udupi district from February 13.

The mass marriage programme 'Saptapadi,' would be held in 100 major temples of Muzrai department. The second phase would be held on May 24, Minister for Ports, Fisheries and Muzrai Kota Srinivas Poojary told newspersons here on Friday.

Mangaluru, Jul 24: Low-cost airline IndiGo airlines would be operating between Mumbai and Mangaluru four days a week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The operation will begin today (July 24).

The flight will take off from Mumbai at 9.30 am and will land at Mangaluru International Airport at 11.00 am. 

The flight will take off from Mangaluru at 11.40 am and will reach Mumbai at 1.15 pm. To avail the flights for Mangaluru, passengers can report to Terminal T2 in Mumbai.

Before boarding the flight, a standard procedure regarding quarantine regulation has been issued. The passengers boarding the flight from Mumbai will have to undergo thermal screening at the airport. The airport officials will also be required to apply a quarantine stamp on the passengers.

The airline will be required to provide a detailed list of passengers arriving, along with flight information, arrival time, mobile number of the passengers and their residential addresses and share these with the nodal officer.

It is mandatory for the passengers to download Aarogya Setu app. In addition to this, passengers intending to exit Mumbai within seven days of the arrival should be able to produce a confirmed ticket for onward/return journey to get quarantine exemption.

Domestic passengers will have to undergo 14 days of home quarantine. However, all domestic passengers intending to exit Mumbai within seven days of the arrival will be exempted from quarantine, provided they are able to produce a confirmed ticket for onward/return journey.

Mangaluru, Jan 28: Amidst nationwide agitation by ‘We, the People of India’ against contentious CAA, NRC, the women of Manglauru have decided to hold satyagrah and form a human chain in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner in the heart of the city on January 30.

This was announced in a press conference today by activists Sajida Momin, Vidya Dinker, Terry Pais, Maria Ferandes and Suhasini Babbukatte.

The event will mark the 73rd anniversary of the martyrdom of the original Satyagrahi Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated by saffronite terrorist Nathuram Godse.

Ms Momin told media persons that the Satyagrah will commence at 10 a.m. to safeguard the constitution. At 4:30 p.m. a human chain will be formed.

“At 5.17p.m. when the father of the nation was gunned down 72 years ago during his evening prayer at Birla House by Godse, we will convey Gandhi’s message of unity against violence,” she said.
