CM built commercial complex on public road, alleges Vijay Kumar Shetty

March 14, 2012

Mangalore, March 14: Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda has built a commercial complex occupying part of a public road, alleged Vijay Kumar Shetty, Former MLA and Congressman.

Addressing media persons in a press meet in Kottara Chowki, Mangalore, on Wednesday, Mr. Shetty, backed by a few locals, said that Mr. Gowda has allegedly built a complex on land that was being used by the local people there as a road. He also said that the road even features in the proposed plan of CDP as a public road and hence, CDP too is guilty of keeping its eyes shut. “If there is any doubt in our allegations, let a third party engineer carry out a survey. You will find that violation has taken place”, he said.

He also informed that after accumulating some more documents, a complaint would be filed with the Lokayukta.

Ajit Kumar, Former Mayor, said that the Mangalore City Corporation has been asking people to get rid of the cement bars used as shades in houses if they appear to have come out of the land's prescribed limit. “But in Mr. Gowda's building, there is a huge deviation and encroachment. The MCC gave the project license. But in the completion certificate, there is no mention of this deviation”, he said.

When asked as to what he thinks about the Congress leader Ms. Margaret Alva's denial to give land for road widening in Balmatta area, Mr. Shetty said “If we speak about it now, this case will become weak”.

Bengaluru, Aug 6: Firebrand BJP Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya on Wednesday said that control of state power by Hindus is absolutely essential for sustenance of Dharma.

His comments, in a series of tweets, came on a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lord Ram temple at Ayodhya.

"Dear Hindus, Most important lesson is that control of State power by Hindus is absolutely essential for sustenance of Dharma. When we didn't control State, we lost our temple. When we regained, we rebuilt. The 282 (seats) in 2014 and 303 (seats) in 2019 to Sri Narendra Modi made today possible!", Surya, who is also the party's BJP youth Wing state general secretary, tweeted.

He also said that the survival of India depends on the survival of Sanatana Dharma.

"The Sanatana Dharma, that is nationalism,' Sri Aurobindo had said in his Uttarapara speech. But what does it mean? Along with Jai Sri Ram, the purohits also chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai - That is Dharmic nationalism. If Dharma survives, India survives," he said in another tweet.
