NWF members visit hospital, ashram to mark Int'l Women's Day

Mulki, March 15: To mark International Women's Day, National Women's Front, Mulki, visited Karnadu Government Hospital and distributed fruits among poor patients recently.

Muzaim, President, NWF, Mulki zone, Faveena, Secretary, Dr. Sujatha, Medical Officer of the Hospital, and others were present on the occasion.

In Bajpe too, members of NWF visited Sneha Sadana Ashram in Banglegudde near Gurupura Kaikamba, and distributed fruits among AIDS patients.

Atiqa Siddiq, DK District Secretary, NWF, Sarika Banu, Bajpe Zone President, Sabina, Ramlath, Rehana and others were present.

Kalaburagi, Mar 16: A family member of the 76-year-old man from Kalaburgai who died of COVID-19 on March 10 has been tested positive for the virus.

Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner B Sharat said, "One member of the family of the 76-year-old man from Kalaburgai, who died due to coronavirus has tested positive for the virus."

The disease which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year has so far spread to more than 100 countries, infecting over 1,30,000 people.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.

Bengaluru, Jan 22: JD(S) president HD Kumaraswamy on Wednesday termed the surrender of the accused in the alleged planting of an explosive at Mangalore Airport as another act of a drama and said that the incident should serve as an Eye-opener for the Prime minister Narendra Modi over the prevailing unemployment problem in the country.

Addressing a press conference, the Janta Dal (Secular) leader said that the surrendered man, who had allegedly planted explosive at the airport, was an employed youth and PM needs to address the prevailing unemployment problem in the country.

The former chief minister said that the accused have higher education qualifications and belonged to the Hindu community, disapproving that only people belonging to the Muslim community resort to violence.

Police turns saviour on New Year, convinces runaway college student to return home

Mangaluru, Jan 1: On the first day of 2020, Bajpe Police became somewhat of a Guardian Angel for a college student, who was wandering around the city in the wee hours of Wednesday, convincing and escorting him to his home safely, after coming to know about his residence.

According to Bajpe Police Probationary Sub-Inspector Anita Nikkam and Police Officer Devappa Hosamani, they noticed a youth, hailing from Handelu in Todaru and studying in a college at Moodbidri, wandering at around 0245 hrs.

When asked about his whereabouts, the boy did not respond initially. However, police managed to collect his address and his mother's phone number after half an hour of interrogation.
