KIOCL donates infrastructures to hospital, school

Mangalore, March 21: KIOCL Limited, a Govt of India Enterprise, has under its Corporate Social Responsibility, donated a 10 KVA Generator set, solar water heater, drinking water facility and medical equipments worth Rs.3,71,500 to the Govt. T.B. and Chest Diseases Hospital, Vamanjoor, near here.

K Ranganath, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, KIOCL Limited, today dedicated the above facilities in the presence of Dr Vijaya, Superintendent, Govt T.B. Hospital, K Subba Rao, Director, KIOCL and senior officers of KIOCL and general public at the Hospital.

In another function held at Shri Bharathi College, Nanthoor, Mangalore, K Ranganath inaugurated the classroom donated by KIOCL Limited, this morning. The 28'x32' size classroom was financed by KIOCL under its CSR Policy.

KIOCL Director K Subba Rao, College Principal G N Bhat, Office-bearers of the management K S Bhat, Y V Bhat, TMGK Bhat, college staff and students were present during the occasion.

Addressing the gathering Ranganath said that there are two important donations in the society – food and education. Among these two education lasts long and make people to learn more and more.

He said that under its CSR Policy, the Company has contributed to the development of people, most its neighbourhood, by way donating infrastructure to educational institutions, medical infrastructure, medical treatment/surgery to BPL people, drinking water facility to the general public, shelter, roads, etc to the general public etc.

A portion of Company's profit was earmarked for this purpose and this will continue in the coming days also, he added.

Gadag, Feb 20: A 33-year-old Muslim man is all set to become a seer at Muruga Rajendra Mutt in Gadag.

Ordained by Sri Murugarajendra Koraneswara Swami of the mutt, Dewan Sharief Mullah claims he was taking the step not under any duress but after being "guided by the almighty".

"Nobody asked me to do it. The almighty came in my mind and guided me.... They have put the sacred thread and given me the responsibility. They have given me the 'Ishta-linga' and this honour. I have done the 'Ishta-linga dharan'. I will walk on the path of dharma. Love and sacrifice is the message given to me. That is what I want to propagate," he said.

Sri Murugarajendra Koraneswara Swami said, "It does not matter what caste you belong to. If God appears to you for a path of goodwill and sacrifice, you will do it regardless of the manmade restrictions of birth and caste."

Mangaluru, Mar 24: With four new coronavirus positive cases reported, surveillance against people coming out of their houses and wandering around in public places has been intensified in the coastal city of Mangaluru today.

With today's addition, the total number of positive cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has increased to five in Mangaluru.

All the four new patients are said to be Keralites. Among them three are undergoing treatment at Wenlock Hospital and another one in KMC Hospital.

There will be total restriction in place for the public to step out of their houses. Those who are found outside on the streets would be arrested, caution the district authorities.

Belagavi, Apr 30: Police Sub-Inspector attached to Sadalaga Police Station Anil Kumbar was suspended on Wednesday pending inquiry for negligence and misbehavior in Examba incident, Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi said.

According to him, the PSI was suspended as he misbehaved with Sachin Sawant a Centeral Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Cobra Commando on April 23 at his native village Yakshamba village and arrested him on charges of not wearing mask. On scuffle with the constable the commando was handcuffed and chained at Sadalaga police station.

Sachin Sawant was sent to Hindlaga Jail by the Court and was released on conditional bail on Tuesday.
