Rs. 3.5 lakhs stolen from parked car in Valencia

Mangalore, March 29: Around Rs. 3.5 lakhs were stolen from a parked car in Valencia area of the city on Wednesday.

The cash belonged to Kamaruddin of Medicity Medicals. He had parked his car near the SBI Bank in Valencia, where he dropped in for some work. By the time he returned, he found the cash he had kept in a cover on the seat of the car missing.

“It happened around 12 noon. I had gone out for hardly 10 minutes and the theft had taken place”, Mr. Kamaruddin told Coastaldigest.com.


Mr. Kamaruddin said that he doesn't rule out the possibility of the theft being carried out by someone who knew him or people close to him. He added though that he felt as though he was being followed by someone while on his way to the SBI. “There was a man of dark complexion who I felt was following me from State Bank”, he said.

The glass of the back door of the car was damaged to get access to the cash by the thief.

Pandeshwar police are investigating the case.

Mangaluru, Jan 10: A person has been booked for forwarding provocative message on WhatsApp against the Dakshina Kannada Khazi Twaqa Ahmed Musliyar.

According to police, the accused Hassan forwarded provocative messages against the Khazi in a WhatsApp group on December 31, following which he was booked under several sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Mangalore North Police are looking into the matter.

New Delhi, Feb 13: Ashoka Buildcon on Thursday said it has emerged as the lower bidder for a highway project worth Rs 1,035.5 crore in Karnataka.

The project entails four laning of a section of NH-206 in the state.

Ashoka Buildcon had submitted its bid to National Highways Authority of India for the project to be built on hybrid annuity mode under Bharatmala Pariyojana, it said in a BSE filing.

"The company emerged as the lowest bidder at the financial bid opening meeting held on February 13," Ashoka Buildcon said.

The quoted bid project cost for the project is Rs 1,035.50 crore, it added.

The company's stock was trading at Rs 103.05, down 2.78 per cent, on the BSE.

Mangaluru, Jul 22: On the direction of the Karnataka government, private medical colleges in Dakshina Kannada have reserved 4,000 beds for the treatment of Covid-19 infected patients.

With this, the district will have a total of 4,720 beds for the treatment including that from the government set up.

The district administration has directed the eight private medical colleges to reserve 50 of its beds for treating the infected patients. Accepting the direction of the district administration, the management of medical colleges have submitted details on the beds reserved to the authorities concerned.
