Dr. Mohandas Bhandary nominated Co-Chairman of IMA Standing Committee

Mangalore, March 30: Dr. Kailkere Mohandas Bhandary of Mangalore has been nominated by the national President of Indian Medical Association (IMA), New Delhi to serve a three year term as Co-Chairman of IMA Standing Committee for Sports Medicine.

This honour comes to him close on the heels of being elected to the Karnataka Medical Council in Non Teachers Constituency.

Sports Medicine is an important specialty concerned with physical fitness, treatment and prevention of sports injury. This specialty has a vital role to play in grooming and nurturing our sports talents and enable them to excel in sports.

Dr. Kailkere Mohandas Bhandary was Founder President of Family Doctors Association (R), Mangalore and has also served as the president of IMA Mangalooru Branch. He is actively involved in a wide range of social and cultural activities.

Karnataka Minister CT Ravi tests positive for COVID-19

Bengaluru, Jul 13: Karnataka Minister CT Ravi has tested positive for COVID-19. However, his wife and staff members have tested negative.

"Yesterday, I along with my wife Pallavi and my staff members underwent COVID-19 test. Fortunately, my wife Pallavi and all my staff members are tested negative. Third umpire's result for me has confirmed that I'm COVID Positive. However, I'm feeling absolutely fine," Ravi tweeted.

"For now, I'll continue to work from here and undergo treatment. Very soon, I'll get cured and come back to work with you all," he added.
So far, Karnataka has reported 36,216 COVID-19 cases, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Mangaluru reports another covid-19 case; DK’s total reaches 25

Mangaluru, May 5: A day after lockdown was partially relaxed in Dakshina Kannada, a fresh covid-19 positive case was reported today from Boloor area of Mangaluru.

In its fresh bulletin, health and family welfare department today said that the throat swabs of a 51-year-old man from Boloor tested positive for the coronavirus.

Boloor is already declared as corona containment zone in the district after as this is the fourth coronavirus positive case reported from the area.

With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada mounted to 25 including 19 residents of the district and six outsiders who have already left the district after getting treatment.

NSG team in Mysuru to check security measures in tourist spots

Mysuru, Jan 20: A 100-member team of National Security Guards (NSG) has arrived in the city for bolstering security measures in the tourist centre and to demonstrate the preparedness of the elite force to tackle any exigency in the region.

The annual maintenance of the Mysuru Palace will be taken up on Monday and the NSG commandos are expected to give suggestions and directions for improving the security at the place. It is also said that the commandos may visit Mysuru airport.

It is also said that the commandos may visit Mysuru airport. According to sources, from the Palace Board, the team of commandos reached Mysuru two days ago and interacted with the officials and engineers of the Palace Board.
