Lokayukta police raid RTO offices in Mangalore, Udupi and Puttur

Mangalore, March 31: Lokayukta officials conducted raids simultaneously on RTO offices in Mangalore and Puttur on Saturday, but returned empty handed.
The raid at the two offices took place at 3 pm. They also raided the Talapady check post at around the same time. The officers later said that they did not find anything illegal there and everything was i n order.
The raid at the Mangalore RTO office was carried out under the leadership of SP Jagamayyanavar and inspector Udaya Naik, the raid at Talapady office was spearheaded by Inspector Umesh Sheth.
At Puttur office, the raid was conducted by Dileep Kumar and team.
The team conducted raids at various depatments of the RTO including transport, driving license sections, where alleged corrupt practices were said to be very common. The team also searched 34 staff at the RTO office and did not find any unaccounted money with them. The office record showed Rs. 3,37,141 as the receipts and the amount found with the cashier matched with the entry, said Lokayukta police.
The Lokayukta police also conducted raids at the RTO office in Udupi situated at Adi Udupi. The raid was led by Dinesh Kumar, inspector. The raids have been conducted all over the State as per the instruction given to the Lokayukta police.
