Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers selected for KSCA Academy coaching

Mangalore, April 6: Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone has announced the list of Under-19 and Under-16 players selected for the KSCA Academy coaching camps.

The camps are scheduled to be held simultaneously in Mangalore, Manipal, Madikeri and Gonikoppa from April 9.

In Madikeri and Gonikoppa, more players will be selected before the start of the camp, a KSCA spokesperson said.

Many players could not attend the selection trials due to examinations in these areas.

Mangaluru, Apr 6: Taking note of the communally hateful messages, news and pictures in the wake of coronavirus, Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police (SP) Laxmi Prasad on Monday issued strict warning to people spreading such messages and news on local social media platforms.

The SP also confirmed that four cases under his jurisdiction have been registered for sending, forwarding messages with communal hate in the wake of coronavirus on Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

He added the police department will not take any such messages, news, and images lightly which can potentially hurt the sentiments of the people of any community. He also added that those found guilty will be prosecuted under strict law and their gadgets, mobiles will be seized by the department.

Bengaluru, Mar 12: Karnataka on Thursday confirmed another positive case of the deadly coronavirus, taking the total number of infected persons to five in the state.

According to a source from the State Health Department, the infected person, a 26-year-old patient had recently returned from Greece. He is currently under observation in an isolation ward in a city hospital.

Bengaluru, Mar 10: Techies living in a Whitefield apartment block where the city's first Coronavirus patient was residing have been asked to work from home.

The Karnataka government is in touch with the heads of IT and ITES companies, some of which are said to have asked their staff to work from home.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr C Ashwath Narayan, who also holds the IT and BT Portfolio, said the government had directed the companies to explore giving their employees the work-from-home option.
