Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers selected for KSCA Academy coaching

Mangalore, April 6: Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone has announced the list of Under-19 and Under-16 players selected for the KSCA Academy coaching camps.

The camps are scheduled to be held simultaneously in Mangalore, Manipal, Madikeri and Gonikoppa from April 9.

In Madikeri and Gonikoppa, more players will be selected before the start of the camp, a KSCA spokesperson said.

Many players could not attend the selection trials due to examinations in these areas.

Bantwal, Jun 26: A day after expressing gratitude for the overwhelming response from students for the SSLC examinations, Karnataka Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar on Friday took to Twitter to laud a student who didn’t let his physical hurdles deter him from writing the examination.

Sharing image of the student, Kaushik, who wrote the SSLC examination at Bantwal’s SVS High School, the Minister said that he was taken aback by the boy’s spirit for writing the exam independently without relying on anyone’s help. Such individuals give new meaning to life. Others should learn from this.

In the picture, Kaushik is seen seated on the floor and using his toes to write answers.

Bengaluru, Aug 5: A red alert has been issued in several districts in Karnataka due to heavy rainfall in the state since last two-three days, the India Meteorological Department said on Wednesday.

"Red alert has been announced in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Chickamagalur, Shivamogga, Kodagu and Hassan, due to heavy rainfall in the region from last two-three days," CS Patil, Director, India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bengaluru said.

Madikeri, Apr 17: A person who had returned from Spain in March was subjected to home quarantine on Thursday in Sowarpet in Kodagu district.

The person had arrived at Bengaluru on March 16 and went to Balele. Yesterday, he came to his estate house in Kumburu village in Somwarpet.

Availing the information, Tahsildar Govindaraju, police officials and health department staff visited the spot and gathered the necessary information.
