Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers selected for KSCA Academy coaching

Mangalore, April 6: Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone has announced the list of Under-19 and Under-16 players selected for the KSCA Academy coaching camps.

The camps are scheduled to be held simultaneously in Mangalore, Manipal, Madikeri and Gonikoppa from April 9.

In Madikeri and Gonikoppa, more players will be selected before the start of the camp, a KSCA spokesperson said.

Many players could not attend the selection trials due to examinations in these areas.

Mangaluru, Apr 6: Three more COVID-19 positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district have been recovered and discharged on Monday.

All three are Kasargod residents and were being treated in the city’s Wenlock hospital.

A 22-year-old man Bhatkal was discharged on Monday after recovering fully from the infection.

A total of 12 cases have been found COVID-19 positive in Mangaluru till now, said B Rupesh, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate's Office, Dakshina Kannada, on Monday.

"So far, 4 positive cases have recovered in Mangaluru, of which 3 COVID-19 positive patients have recovered and have been discharged today," said Rupesh.

He further said, "A total of 12 positive cases have been reported in the city till now."

As per the latest update by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of confirmed cases in the country is 4281. 151 cases are from Karnataka.

Bengaluru, Jul 17: The Doctors at Fortis Hospital, here on Friday, successfully treated a 97-year-old patient who suffered an embolic stroke due to calcified stenosis (narrowing of an artery resulting in restriction of blood flow).

In a release, the Hospital authorities stated that the team of doctors led by Dr Rajpal Singh, Director and Interventional Cardiologist, Fortis Hospital, Bangalore successfully conducted Carotid Artery Stenting (CAS) to increase the blood flow in the blocked areas which had resulted in stroke following stringent safety protocols and ensuring proper segregation of COVID and Non-COVID patients at the hospital.

Carotid arteries serve as the main channels which supply the blood flow to the brain and facial structures. Any significant narrowing in these arteries can cause a brain stroke, a mini-stroke, headache, and neurological symptoms.

Udupi, Jul 21: Udupi Court complex has been sealed down for two days for sanitisation after a judge tested positive for Covid-19, a source said on Tuesday.

The Covid cases in Udupi district which had reduced recently are once again seeing a spurt. On Monday, as many as 98 have tested positive taking the total cases in the district to 2,321.
