Bishop releases 'Kalpavally' telefilm

Mangalore, April 10: Dr. Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, released the telefilm 'Kalpavally' on the life and of Mgr. Raymond FC Mascarenhas at Bethany Hall on Monday.

On this occasion, he also launched the website www.rfcmascarenhas.com , a special website on the Servant of God Raymond Mascarenhas.

The telefilm has been produced by Bethany Educational Society, Mangalore, portraying the whole life of Mgr Raymond Mascarenhas from his birth to death. Lyrics have been composed by Sumukananda Jalavally, teacher, Little Flower Girls' High School, Kinnigoli. Suresh Attavar directed the film while Sr. Reena was the coordinator.

Sr. Wilberta, Superior General, welcomed the Bishop and the gathering.

Sr. Rose Celine, Secretary, Bethany Educational Society, said that 100 artists, most of them hailing from Little Flower School Kinnigoli, have acted in the film.

Sr. Lillis, Assistant Superior General, explained the features of the website.

The Bishop on the occasion appreciated the efforts of Bethany Educational Society.

Bengaluru, Apr 30: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, has directed the Bengaluru City Police to return all the vehicles, which were seized during the Coronavirus Lockdown period, for having flouted rules.

The City Police Commissioner, Bhaskar Rao, informed that it was decided to return the seized vehicles to the owners, after verifying documents.

He said that the vehicles had been seized while enforcing strict guidelines, issued to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, in the city.

Mangaluru, Mar 24: The District Wenlock Hospital Superintendent Dr H R Rajeshwaridevi has filed a complaint with the police on Tuesday seeking action against those circulating fake videos of a man infected with COVID-19, at the hospital.

In the video, a man was seen struggling to breathe at a hospital. The message in the video says that the man was admitted at Wenlock Hospital.

Dr Rajeshwaridevi, who issued a clarification, stated that video clips which are being circulated on social media is not from Wenlock Hospital.

Moreover, Wenlock Hospital does not use blue colour beds.

Bengaluru, Jan 24: Karnataka High Court on Friday ordered notice to the state government and self-styled godman Swami Nithyananda while hearing a petition seeking cancellation of bail granted to him.

A petition was filed in the Karnataka High Court on Friday seeking cancellation of bail granted to Nithyananda for skipping the trial and fleeing the country.

Justice John Michael Cunha, after hearing the complainant, ordered issuance of notice to the state government and Nithyananda and posted the matter for hearing next week.

The petition, filed by K Lenin, alleged that Nithyananda has been skipping trial and has fled the country on an expired passport.

The plea further said that Nithyananda was making false representations in his "exemption petitions to the trial court as if he is still in India".

Interpol has also issued a 'blue corner notice' to locate the self-styled godman, who is facing trial in a criminal case, on the request of Gujarat Police.
