Summer Camp on Golf Coaching for Children gets underway in Pilikula

golfMangalore, April 10: The Summer Camp on Golf Coaching for Children got underway on Monday at Pilikula near here.

The camp is being organised by Corporation Bank in association with Pilkula Golf Club.

Inaugurating the Camp, Ajai Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, Corporation Bank, said playing Golf does not only provide physical exercise but it also improves concentration. The game helps the player in enhacing his capacity to focus, he said.

“The passion for Golf in Mangalore is fast developing and there is a need to introduce younger generation to this game. The camp will be a wonderful occasion to learn and understand the nuances of this game,” he said.

Mr Kumar also called upon the Golf Club to start a new championship or tournament to promote golf in the city.

Pilkula Golf Club Captain Manoj Shetty said that till date there are 40 children who have enrolled in the camp and he expects it to cross 50.

He also announced that three students among the participants will be selected for further training.

The special coaching camp will be held for a period of 20 days till April 29.

The training is for the beginners who will be coached on the basics of Golf. Children in the age group of five to 15 years can participate in the Summer Camp.

The coaching is free and the transportation will be arranged by the Club. Morning and evening slots are available for coaching.

New Delhi, Feb 20: The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the non-bailable warrants issued against the state Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) by the Karnataka High Court.

A bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde stayed the non-bailable warrants while hearing a plea filed by the Karnataka government.

Earlier today, the apex court had agreed to hear the matter today itself after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta mentioned the matter before it.

Tushar Mehta had pointed that Home Secretary has been asked by the High Court to execute the non-bailable warrants and said that this order is "unusual".

Karnataka High Court had earlier issued non-bailable warrants against the top cops in a case.

Udupi, May 28: The India Meteorologic Department (IMD) on Thursday warned fishermen in coastal belt of Karnataka against venturing out into the deep sea between May 31 and June 4.

The Department stated that depression is expected to occur in the south-eastern part of Arabian Sea and the nearby areas and it would be dangerous for the fishermen of Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep to go out towards the deep sea.

The Department officials said that they would provide information on development in weather conditions. In the backdrop of the current weather forecast, however, the fishermen in the western coastline were advised against venturing into the sea.

Bengaluru, May 21: Karnataka reported 116 fresh cases of coronavirus on Thursday, taking the state tally to 1578. 

So far, 570 people have been cured and discharged while 41 have succumbed to the virus, informed the state health department.

Out of the 116 cases, 71 have a history of inter-state travel history to Maharashtra.

Out of the 116 cases, 27 are from Udupi alone, 15 cases are reported from Mandya and 13 are from Hassan. Bengaluru Urban saw seven new cases.
