Vittala to move High Court for bail

Mangalore, April 13: A local court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Vittala Malekudiya, a student of Mass Communication and Journalism at Mangalore University.

The 22-year-old student was arrested on March 3 along with his father at his house in Kuthlur in Belthangady taluk by Anti Naxal Force on charges of alleged links with Maoists.

Mr Malekudiya had moved a bail application before the fast track court in Puttur requesting to facilitate him to appear for the impending annual examination.

The judge, after Thursday's hearing, denied him the bail, saying that police have piled up enough evidences for his alleged links with anti-national forces.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Hegde Ulepady, counsel for Vittala, said that he would move the Karnataka high court against the order of the fast track court seeking regular bail for his client.

Mangaluru, Mar14 (UNI) In view of prevailing Global situation, Coast Guard Karnataka took initiatives for creating awareness among the CG Personnel, Civilian Staff and Families on precautions so that the contagious Coronavirus be prevented.

For the benefit of CG personnel posters have been displayed at entrance and prominent places in office premises and residential areas including the CG KG School.

All CG Personnel and their families were advised to frequently wash their hands with sanitiser or soap and water at regular intervals. They are also requested to cover their nose and mouth with handkerchief or tissue while coughing or sneezing. It is advised to consult doctor if there is fever, difficulty in breathing, coughing, all being symptoms of Corona Virus.

Mangaluru, April 3: A police officer in Sullia town of Dakshina Kannada district got injured on Friday after unidentified youth pelted stones at him.

The incident took place when the cop stopped them from entering into the state from Kerala in the view of nationwide lockdown. He was later administered medical aid.

Bengaluru, Mar 13: Upset over her husband’s insistence that expenses for her heart ailment be borne by her parents, a 26-year-old homemaker hanged herself at her residence in Manjunatha Nagar, near RT Nagar, on Tuesday midnight.

RT Nagar police said Lakshmi Sharma was also being harassed by her husband Dharmananda Sharma to divorce him. Dharmananda, his father Krishnakumar and mother Sharavati were arrested on Wednesday and remanded in judicial custody.

An investigating officer said Lakshmi had left a suicide note explaining the torture she underwent.
