Inter-Parish cricket tourney on May 12, 13

Cricket-2Mangalore, April 19: The second Inter Parish under-25 cricket tournament is being organized by Team Imperialz, for the parishes of Mangalore Diocese to mark the second anniversary of the Team.

The tournament will be held on May 12 and 13. As many as 24 teams from 24 parishes are expected to participate in this annual event. The teams will be divided into two pools based on the lots which will be held May 6.

This is one of the innovative tournaments in the region with attractive and professional approach. Team Imperialz also presents individual rewards for the best batsman, best bowler, best fielder, best wicket keeper, maximum sixes, man of the match, player of the tournament and many other prizes.

The winning team will be awarded with cash prize of Rs.10,000 and runners up team with Rs.5,000 and second runners up with Rs. 3,000.

Derebail, , Merlapadav, Kulshekar, Kelrai, Angelore, Bondel, Kuloor, Bajal, Cascia, Urwa, Valencia, Permannur, Paneer, Katipalla, Bejai, Bendoor, Omzoor, Ferar, Gurpur, Vamanjoor, Milagres, Thannirbhavi parishes are taking part in the tournament.

Merlapadav had been the winners of the last year's tournament with Angelore bagging the runners up title.

During the tournament, Team Imperialz will inaugurate its blood donors' network campaign. Every player will promote this campaign wearing an awareness band with a caption 'donate blood, save life'

All the matches will be officiated by the DKCA nominated umpires and will be supervised by a match referee appointed by the DKCA from the participating teams.

All the matches will be played at the NMPT Stadiam. Semi finals and finals will be played at around 2:30 pm on May 13. All the matches in the beginning rounds will be played of five overs and the final will be played of six overs.

Mangaluru, Mar 29: Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Limited in a statement announced that their milk collection centres across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will be closed on March 29 and 30.

Due to a shortage of storage space with them, the Union has decided to stop collecting milk on these two days, according to the statement issued here on Saturday.

The sale/retail of milk and milk products won’t be affected in these two days.

Mangaluru, Jan 24: The Srushti Kala Vidyalaya will be conferring it's 'Srushti Kalabhushan Award' to ace Yakshagana Bhagvatha Patla Sathish Shetty.

The award ceremony will be held at RV Dental College and Hospital in JP Nagar, Bengaluru on February 2, as part of the decennial celebrations of the Vidyalaya.

Chayapathi Kanchibail, founder of the Vidyalaya, said, "The award is being given to Shetty for his services to promote the art of Yakshagana and for his welfare work through the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation."

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 29: Twenty more people were

detected with coronavirus in Kerala on Saturday, taking the total number of those undergoing treatment for the deadly infection to 181, Health Minister K K Shailaja said.

While Kannur reported eight cases, Kasaragod 7, Thiruvananthapuram, Ernkulam, Thrissur, Palakad and Malappuram reported one case each, Shailaja said in a statement here.

Of the 20 people, 18 had come from abroad and two others had been infected through contact.

The man found positive here was in the isolation ICU of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital, while one positive case from Ernakulam was a health worker.

The samples of four persons who were under treatment at Pathnamthitta were found negative.

At least, 1,41,211 people are under observation across the state, the Minister addd.
