Mangalore, April 23: Three persons were killed on spot when the motorbike they were riding rammed into a speeding KSRTC bus at Halekote in Belthangady taluk near here on Monday night.
Two among the triple riders have been identified as Vincent, resident of Koppadabel near Punjalkatte and Biju, resident of Koyyur. The identity of the third persons is yet to be ascertained.
The accident took place around 9:00 pm, a few seconds after the bus plying from Mangalore to Dharmasthala overtook a vehicle.
It is learnt that the rider of the motorbike which was coming from opposite direction lost control over his vehicle and crashed into the rear of the fully-loaded bus.
The severity of the crash was such that the motorcycle along with its three riders completely slid under the bus.
Eye witnesses said that the motorbike caught fire, burning its maimed rider under the bus. All the passengers of the bus were asked to vacate the vehicle in order to avert a bigger catastrophe.
A fire brigade team rushed to the spot immediately to douse the fire, which had already destroyed the motorbike some parts of the bus. The accident also led to major traffic block for nearly half an hour.
