
Karwar, April 24: The police in Uttara Kannada district are in contact with their counterparts in other States in addition to several investigation agencies in the country to curb anti-national activities being carried out by some persons who hail from Bhatkal, said Pratap Reddy, Inspector-General of Police, Western Range.
Mr. Reddy told presspersons in Karwar on Monday that the police in the district were vigilant and were working in coordination with the police of other States.
He said it was difficult to identify sleeper cells in Bhatkal as they were not involved in criminal activities at the local level.
He claimed that some people who had roots in Bhatkal were caught by the police of different States for carrying out the anti-national activities and smuggling.
But all the information about policing could not be shared with the media, he said.
Mangaluru, Jan 11: Reacting to the recent video clippings provided to the media by former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy in connection with the December 19 unrest in Mangaluru, city Police Commissioner Dr PS Harsha on Saturday said that the video has to be seen in a proper sequence to come to a conclusion on the happenings of that day.
