Mangalore, April 24: Basavanna's vachana literature is a treasure of knowledge that he passed on to the masses in simple words, said Yogish Bhat, MLA.
He was speaking after inaugurating a programme organized to celebrate the birth anniversary of Basaveshwara by the district administration, Department of Kannada and Culture and Karavali Veerashaiva Kshemabhivraddhi Sangha, Mangalore, in the city on Tuesday.
Mr. Bhat said that Basavanna's Anubhava Mantapa was a platform to discuss the problems being faced by the people.
The MLA also said that life would be more meaningful when teachings of Basavanna are implemented in life instead of mere confining them to books and speeches.
Girisiddheshwara Shivacharya Swamiji, Basavanagudi, Mangalore, Dayananda K, Additional Deputy Commissioner, DK, Dr. Harish Kumar, Commissioner, MCC, were present among others.
