Doubling of track on Nethravathi bridge to affect train schedules

Mangalore, April 25: To facilitate the work of doubling of track between Nethravathi Bridge and Mangalore Junction (Kankanady) certain trains will be cancelled partially, rescheduled and regulated.

According to a press release, the trains which will be partially cancelled between Mangalore Central and Mangalore Junction on April 28, 29, 30, May 2, 3 and 4 are Train No 56645 Mangalore Central - Kabakaputtur passenger; Train No. 56646 Subramaiya Road- Mangalore Central passenger.

Train No 12432 Nizamuddin – Thiruvanathapuram Rajdhani express will be regulated at Mangalore Junction for 45 minutes on April 30.

Train No 56656 Mangalore Central - Kannur passenger will be partially cancelled between Mangalore Central and Ullal on May 8, 9 and 10.

The trains which will be rescheduled on May 8 are: Train No 12686 Mangalore Central-Chennai super fast express rescheduled to leave 18.00 hrs instead of 16.10 hrs (110 minutes late start);

Train No 16348 Mangalore Central - Thiruvanathapuram express rescheduled to leave 18.15 hrs instead of 14.30 hrs. (225 minutes late start);

Train No 16303 Mangalore Central – Thiruvanathapuram Maveli express rescheduled to leave 18.30 hrs instead of 17.45 hrs. (45 minutes late start); Train No 16330 Mangalore Central - Thiruvanathapuram Malabar express rescheduled to leave 19.15 hrs instead of 18.25 hrs. (50 minutes late start).

The trains which will be regulated are —Train No 16606 Nagercoil – Mangalore Central Ernad Express will be regulated at Ullal station for 110 minutes from 16.45 hrs to 18.35 hrs on May 9.

Bengaluru, May 26: The Karnataka government today resolved to continue with the online method of education as a new normal in the field of higher education. 

Holding the review of the Higher Education department, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa expressed interest in providing online education to students in higher educational institutes.

Yediyurappa directed the officials to look into the possibilities of extending online education from as early as Pre-University level so that the new method can easily be followed as they scale up the academic career. 

Keeping in mind the less expenditure and online teaching being cost-effective, Yediyurappa said, “If you compare online teaching with the regular classroom teaching, it is not only cost-effective but also helps in savings in terms of resources. Officials must look into the new method and start introducing it as early as PU classes.”

Bengaluru, Apr 20: A ruckus erupted in Padarayanapura on Sunday allegedly over shifting of suspected COVID-19 persons to quarantine facility by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials.

The incident occurred in the late evening at Padarayanapura which is recognized as a 'Red Zone' when BBMP officials went to bring 15 secondary contacts of corona positive patients.

However, some people and youth created ruckus and broke the barricade and removed police post which was stalled in the area.

Soon after receiving the information, Bengaluru South Deputy Commissioner of Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

"Lockdown continues, please remain indoors.Tomorrow will be as it was till today. We Understand your situation and appreciate your cooperation," tweeted Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City, Bhaskar Rao.

In Karnataka, 384 people have detected positive for COVID-19, of which 14 people have succumbed to the infection, as per the Union Health Ministry.

Bengaluru, Mar 2: BJP leader and Karnataka cabinet minister BS Sriramulu's daughter Rakshita's wedding will take place with Sanjeev Reddy here on March 5. The nine-day function will cost crores of rupees.

For the wedding, decorations and arrangements are being done at Sriramulu's home here.

The reception will take place in Bengaluru Palace Ground on March 5.

"I couldn't invite you all in person but I tried to welcome you all. Through the media, I am again inviting you all. We are not performing a pretentious wedding. I invite you all on March 5 at Palace Ground," Sriramulu said.

After BJP leader Janardhan Reddy's daughter's marriage in Bengaluru Palace Ground, the marriage of Sriramulu's daughter is being considered one of the costliest marriages in Karnataka's history.
