Kannada Sahitya Parishat poll on Sunday

Mangalore, April 27: The election to the post of president of district Kannada Sahitya Parishat and state Kannada Sahitya Parishat will be held on April 29 from 8 am to 4 pm.

There are five polling booths in Dakshina Kannada district. They are Mangalore taluk office meeting hall in Mangalore taluk, Bantwal taluk offce, Puttur taluk office, Belthangady taluk offce and Sullia taluk office, informed Tahsildar Ravichandra Nayak.

In a press release he said that, all those Kannada Sahitya Parishat members who do not possess their ID card issued by the KSP, should produce photo identity card like passport, driving license, PAN card, ID card issued by the government, bank passbook, Student ID card from a college, RTC document with photo, ration card, SC/ST/OBC cards, ID cards for ex-servicemen, ID issued for physically challenged, Sandhya Suraksha ID card, MGNREGS ID card, Yashaswini card.

In Udupi, the election will be held at Udupi taluk office and Kundapur taluk office.

Mangaluru, Jul 21: Private hospitals cannot send back COVID-19 patients for any reason, district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said on Monday.

The Minister was addressing a meeting at the Father Muller Medical College here on the arrangements made for COVID-19 patients.

Dakshina Kannada district is quite advanced in the medical field. Hence, the government will not tolerate COVID-19 patients wandering from one hospital to another for treatment. Refusing to admit COVID-19 patients in hospitals is unacceptable, he warned.

Bengaluru, Mar 25: The Director-General of Police (DGP), Praveen Sood said on Wednesday that grocery stores and supermarkets can stay open for 24 hours across the state for people’s convenience.
Sood’s statement came on Wednesday following panic among people after the government’s announcement of a 21-day long nationwide lockdown starting on March 24.

Surathkal, Jan 4: The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have signed agreementsfor joint research and development of technology for application in space, a statement said here on Friday.

As part of the agreement, which was signed by P Venkatakrishnan, Director of ISRO CBPO Division and Prof Umamaheswar Rao, Director, NITK, ISRO will establish the Regional Academic Center for Space (RACS) at NITK.
