RSS activists confess their guilt in Madannapet riots

Hyderabad, May 2: In a confession statement, RSS activists N. Naganaj, GHMC Supervisor, K.Kiran Kumar, N. Ramesh alias Chenna and K.S. Dayanand admitted their crime in front of police that their intention was to incite the Muslims on the occasion of Sri Ram Nomi and Hanuman Jayanthi but due to the tolerance and peaceful attitude of the Muslims their scheme failed.


After this, they hatched a conspiracy to put the legs of a cow in Hanuman Temple in Madannapet and spread green colour on its walls. As a result of it, communal riots started in the city.


These RSS workers further admitted that an RSS activist Srinivas had instigated them to do so. They disclosed that they had bought the legs of the cows from a beef shop in Chanchalguda and green colour from Sangam electrical in Ameenabad Colony.


They thought that the Muslims would be irritated if tape records are played at a high pitch and temple bell are rung creating loud noise, on the occasions of Ram Nomi and Hanuman Jayanthi but the Muslims didn't object. They were patient and tolerant.


When this plan failed, they hatched this scheme and they were successful in their attempts which resulted in spreading communal riots in the areas of Sayeedabad, Madannapet and Kurmaguda.


Special Investigation team of the Hyderabad city police interrogated these RSS activists.

Mangaluru, Apr 3: The Dakshina Kannada district administration’s decision to ban use of private vehicles, excluding permitted categories, from Friday for effective implementation of lockdown, began showing results since morning itself.

Mangaluru City Traffic Police and Dakshina Kannada district police erected several pickets at vantage places on arterial roads to check those moving without a valid reason. Several two-wheelers were seized during the checking while a few car drivers were let off with a strict warning.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), M Manjunatha Shetty, who was supervising a picket at Hampankatta, said that movement of private vehicles has drastically reduced in the city.

Mangaluru, May 13: Union Minister and former Karnataka chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda today assured that he will exert pressure on the authorities concerned to operate more repatriate flights to bring back Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia to Karnataka. 

Speaking in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com with Kannadiga delegates in Saudi Arabia, Mr Gowda said: “Today itself I will contact the external affairs ministry and Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to convince them the need to add operate flights to bring back stranded Kannaidgas from the Kingdom.

After paying heed to the advices, requests and concerns of Kannadiga delegates that participated in the video conference, Mr Gowda said: “Two things need to be done. First thing is number of flights from Saudi Arabia to Karnataka should be increased. Second thing is to ensure that most of these flights land in the Mangaluru Airport as most of the Kannadiga expats in Saudi Arabia are from the coastal region.

“There should be at least two to three flights from Saudi Arabia to Karnataka (Bengaluru Airport or Mangaluru Airport) every week. That is my intention,” he added.

Mangaluru, Apr 18: Sauharda Forum in Moodbidri has placed a food-counter stand near Krishnakatte in Moodbidri here to feed the hungry during the lockdown.

Due to strict implementation of lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19, shops and hotels have remained closed since last one month posing a huge difficulty for many.

Stranded migrant labourers and others can collect water bottles, fruits, biscuits, and other eatables free of cost by the people at the stand.
