Mangalore, May 6: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda assured members of Kudal Deshasta Adya Goud Brahmin community that an attempt to get them registered under the castle list will be made by him in the days to come.

Speaking at a convention organized by Kudal Deshasta Adya Gaud Brahman Sangha in Mangalore on Sunday, the CM asked representatives of the community to come to Bangalore after which he would take up the matter with the concerned officials.

Stating that a caste or a community must not be looked at in terms of its population or numbers but instead on the basis of its contribution to the society, Mr. Gowda said that people like Medha Patkar and Air Marshal A V Naik who belong to this community had done the same.

Expressing his gratitude to the community for playing a vital role in electing him as their leader in Sullia and helping him reach the prestigious post of Chief Minister, Mr. Gowda said that every community has its own problems which need to be addressed. “Every community must have an organization which would work towards its development. However, it is also important that this privilege must not be misused. We see today that many organisations and associations are being misused for wrong things in the name of caste and religion”, he said.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, N Yogish Bhat, MLA, Padmanabha Kottari, District President, BJP, Krishna J Palemar, MLA, B Nagaraj Shetty, Chairman, Coastal Development Authority were present among others.
