Kasargod, May 7: The sensitive coastal town of Kasargod was flooded with saffron flags, as people arrived in thousands for the mammoth 'Hindu Shakti Sangham'.

Addressing the massive gathering at Talipadpu Maidan, here on Sunday, Vishwa Hindu Parishad International Working President Dr Pravin Togadia exhorted the Hindus to unite for the cause of Hindutva and Hindu nation.

He alleged that the political leadership of the country was encouraging unhealthy and dangerous tendencies in the name of vote bank politics.

“The Jehadi philosophy was flourishing in various forms, the gravest being the import of terrorism from across the border”, he said.

He alleged that the government had taken control of over one lakh Hindu temples.

Lashing out at Pakistan, Togadia said that the neighbouring country had been assisting terrorist elements to carry out subversive activities in major cities and other parts of India.

Senior spiritual leaders, including Sri Vishvesha Tirtha Swami of Pejawar Math, Udupi, and Swami Premananda spoke.

The event was organised by Hindu Hita Rakshana Samithi, a platform of likeminded organisations for Hindu Welfare.

The function was held in the backdrop of attacks on a few temples in the town, triggering tension for days in recent months.
