135 firms to take part in Alva's Pragati 2012

Mangalore, May 11: Providing clarity and guiding prospective candidates to the rights jobs based on their aptitude and qualification will be the cornerstone of Alva's Pragati 2012, a two-day job fair organised by Alva's Education Foundation, Moodbidri.

In a press release issued here, the Foundation said as many as 135 companies would participate in the fair that will be held at the Vidyagiri campus at Moodbidri from May 12.

As many as 30 companies in the manufacturing sector have registered their names. Among them, 10 will be looking for sales persons. 25 IT companies have also registered their names, the release said.

Of the students' registrations, 5,976 had mentioned their preference for IT sector and 2,425 for manufacturing sector.

From South India, 9,000 students had registered and 8,000 more were expected. The fair had attracted 428 registrations from Tamil Nadu and 323 from Mysore.

Companies such as Wipro offered jobs for physically challenged persons, while a Delhi-based company had openings for nursing students. Online registration was compulsory. For registration, log on to www.alvaspragati.com or call 08258237104 (extension 237) or 7353756207, the release said.

Manglauru, July 30: There will be no congregational prayer on Eid Al-Adha at the historic Eidgah mosque in Mangluru’s lighthouse hill this year due to covid-19 pandemic. 

The decision to suspend the Eid prayers in Eidgah was taken as per the guidelines issued by the State Board of Auqaf, said Haji Y Abdullah Kunhi, president of Zeenat Baksh Central Juma Masjid and Eidgah Masjid.

However, Eid prayer will be held at Zeenat Baksh Central Juma Masjid on July 31 at 7 a.m.

Muslims in coastal Karnataka will be celebrating Eid al-Adha on July 31 whereas Muslims in other parts of Karnataka and India are celebrating the festival on August 1.

Karwar, Jan 4: One student died and twelve others were seriously injured when a school bus in which they were travelling from Anantapur district fell into a gorge near Gerusoppa Soolemarki Cross in Honnavar taluk of Uttar Kannada district last night, police said on Saturday.

The deceased student has been identified as T Basha Fakruddin (14).

Police said on that on Friday students of a government school from Anantapur district were on a trip to Jog, Murdeshwar and other places. There were 44 children, nine teachers and four cooking staff in the bus, police said.

Bengaluru, Apr 1: Karnataka government along with BBMP has asked project contractors, builders and developers in the city not to send their labourers to their native place and instead provide them with amenities like food and shelter in this lockdown period.

It was also warned with legal action would be taken against them if they violating the instructions from the government .
