The committee for eradication of malnutrition was appointed by the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court following a letter written by an Athani-based association following media reports that children were malnourished in the State.

However, anganwadi centres in Chikkaballapura district lack infrastructure facilities, he observed.

He said the government should think of supplying region-wise food for the children in anganwadi centres. The food which is supplied to the children are not suitable for their growth.

The children should be given fresh food and not the food which has been preserved in godown for several years.

He has invited suggestions/ written statements from the public in the field of nutrition, healthcare of children and non-governmental organisations, individuals working in the field concerned, so that he can give a detailed report to the High Court.
